Brainfart: Constructable nuclear bomb station objective

Station should have ability to construct another nuclear bomb if they wish so.
Anyway, it would have to be station wide effort, that would require some work from all departments, to give all players some goal to work for.

Basically:

  • science has to research tech, maybe get some radioactive artifacts/artifacts with specific nodes too?
  • engineering has to construct bombs frame/create uranium enrichment facility that would demand constant high power supply over some period of time
  • I guess all construction work should kill you if you dont have protective equipment, so medical has something to do
  • chem makes hard to make chems I guess?
  • construction parts should require secfab, and they should have potential to be used as standalone weapon components, so security cant just premake them for engies, and forget about them
  • Ripley from cargo/new one from science required for construction?

The entire process could be bit complex, but the parts specific departments are responsible for should be simple to perform, but they should still take some time.
The entire production should also allow for some sort of sabotage/incompetence, that would result in nonfunctional bomb.

Now when we are on the topic of sabotage, construction parts should be a thief objective, and nukies… The crew made bomb should be an option for them to use, but I dont think besides loneop there would be a case where crew would have a time and resources to construct one bomb. For generic syndicate agent, they could just get an objective to make sure the crew made bomb is faulty, or convert it to keg.

Im just not certain how should crew hand out the bomb back to NT, because it could just be some special cargo bounty, or they would have to put it on evac shuttle.

I guess… but beyond thieves with the objective to steal the nuke and nuclear operatives, who would ever actually want to build a nuke, let alone needing the entire station in on it? the station’s nuke is something that pretty much only CentComm and antagonists actually want. I doubt the regular crew feel comfortable with the nuke that already comes with the station, let alone willing to make a second one.

give salv a “attack hostile station” dungeon/raid that spawns in another random station. staffs it with syndicate troops and they must steal the syndicate captains nuke disk to arm THEIR nuke. (though no clue how this would play out with lore and nuclear operatives)

exactly, the task of building a new one would be given by CC. CC might prefer to build these on cheap to rebuild stations, that if they go boom, nobody really cares. I might have not said this, but all bomb parts should make use of the contraband labels, to at least be restricted to some departments. Some construction permit from CC, could also get spawned too, to make the bombs themselfs restricted items, that can be allowed for construction, if conditions of the permit are fulfilled.

Salvagers are not pirates. they should not attack operational enemy stations for loot. I guess, if these were the abandoned stations, sure? Also I don’t see how exactly NT should profit from arming and blowing some old stations, all the technology there would be lost if they would do that. If the goal was just to bring the bomb back, to send it to CC for analysis, maybe? but it would be cheaper and safer to deconstruct and inspect it on the station. I would rather give salvage chance go get some hard to make components that could help some department finish their bomb related tasks quicker.
