In-game Username: Derby
Discord username: derbyx
Characters you play: Euagrus Simus
On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week: ~16 hours

Are you at least 18 years old? Yes
How long have you been playing SS13 or SS14? Just a little over a month for SS14, and I would say the same for SS13 back in the day.
Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)? I don’t
Have you been banned from our game servers or SS13 servers before? No
_ Answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you’d approach adminning. _
What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?
To enforce rules and to ensure players maintain their fun within the confines of said rules.
How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the server?
It’s a coinflip at times, but it’s generally above NRP. I don’t have a say for Salamander due to not having joined it yet but I enjoy the current status of Lizard and Leviathan when there isn’t an influx of passengers messing about.
Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?
To help the burden on current administrators and to better the community both on the forums, in-game, and on discord.
Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?
Using the power to better an RP scenario or granting someone a bit of fun within the ruleset. Or by simply talking it out and making sure the other party understands the rules and regulations better to avoid further problems in the future.
Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?
Not with any game admin, mainly just random people self-antagging or ruining a nice RP scenario that could’ve ended with some laughs. I can’t see any way to really prevent it other than a more thorough verification method or an automatic rule enforcement system but that might be abused or make the non-toxic people/new comers to give up on the game.
Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?
Of course, multiple times. Being a security officer and having a nice stable shift with minimal structural damage to the station is always a good experience. Especially departments having communication constantly and giving updates on activities like an AOS for sec, solar repairs as Engi, or salv/cargo saying when the shuttle is leaving.
The following are scenarios, respond with how you would handle each as an administrator. Respond with the assumption that you are an administrator with full access to the admin tools, and that you have all the knowledge needed to use these tools. Respond in detail, explain the reasons behind decisions you make and describe any assumptions you are making. When you need to make an assumption, it is preferred for you to describe how differences in the assumption would affect your actions.
[Q] It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. A chaplain prays to you “Give me a task my lord”.
[A] I would personally twist the message around and give the chaplain through either a fax or another way within RP standards to collect things such as certain plushies, soaps, or other objects similar to maintenance loot. I believe this standardizes that you won’t just be granted anything without some work for it. Fax is one way I see being able to present such a request either labeling it from centcom or the trading post itself, but other ways would be a divine mental message or maybe some writing on the wall. After all the items I deem worthy are accounted for, I could then give them a reward. I would think depending on the worthiness of said items (2 bars of soap vs 5 unique plushies and a space bedsheet) can be redeemed for a higher reward that wouldn’t break the game’s balance but is enough to where the chaplain is satisfied like a holy bible that heals people, or maybe if I want to be a chaotic god making them traitor could better the round for both them and other traitors within it (given that there is enough time in the round left for traitorous activities to be fulfilled). I could also grant them a wish like a genie and if it’s within confines of the rules and doesn’t break balancing too much it would be allowed. It gives a nice rp scenario to discuss during or after the round, and rewards the chaplain for working towards a goal.
[Q] You see a clown using crayon to write on the floor in front of security. The clown writings are negative things about security, like “shitsec”. A secoff tells the clown that they’re being arrested for vandalism, stuns them, and cuffs them. Before the secoff is able to get the clown into the brig, a passenger slips the secoff, causing them to lose their baton, then uses the baton to stun another secoff that comes to help as the clown runs away. The passenger escapes through disposals.
[A] Both the clown and secoff are fine in this scenario. I’d check into the passenger to see any related notes to their history and find out if they are an antag or just a random person being a dick. If nothing comes up afterwards I would continue watching the passenger and see if any further action is needed or until there is a report filed against them letting it fall into IC RP hands for now. If something does come up like multiple notes of being a known shitter or troll and possible role bans then I would take it higher and talk to fellow admins on to whether or not to take direct action or something along those lines.
[Q] You log in to handle an ahelp that came in while nobody was online about “self-antag” activity. The player being reported as self-antagging was being a problem and could be considered acting outside of the rules, but they are no longer online and cannot be contacted about their behavior. While outside of the rules, the infractions are minor and would not normally result in more than a warning in most cases.
[A] I would first gather evidence for such report such as the activity, names, IDs, and such. I would then see if it’s true and if so depending on the notes on the person self-antagging and prior history respond accordingly. For example if they are a repeat offender and have multiple notes/results about such activity then a ban is in order. If it’s a first time offense then simply messaging them outside of the game like discord or the forums could be an option, or handle it all in-game and give a note for other admins to see describing them to talk to the person if they are both online. Usually it’s an accident/mistake if it’s a first or second time offense and shouldn’t be punished with a ban in that case, especially if it’s a new player.
