Events leading to the ban: [I as a full black colored lizard said the fallowing jokingly “You are black. You know i can beat you?” than laughed and said “I’m black too”. While the other player didn’t fallow on the ‘joke’ and walked away.]
Reason the ban should be removed:
[1. It was a joke, it did not contain any offensive or necessarily discriminatory for the other player. it was referring a real life PROBLEM with the intention of cracking a JOKE. I did not receive ANY respond to this and i DID not PUSH it.
2. As i stated, its hardly can be told offensive and, if i offended anyone, than in perhaps LOOC or IC he/she could responded and i WOULD HAVE apologized as it was not my intention to OFFEND.
3. I’m deeply disappointed as in my perspective its overreacted. I do not agree with this ban and if i offend someone, with something that CAN be offensive, at least try to understand my INTENTIONS before banning me…]
He said wtf and walked away, i thought he didnt like the joke or the interaction and just walked away, if i know it had such a bad impact i would have apologized to him/her as my intention was not to offend anyone. Not everyone has the same humor and i understand that, and i never push my jokes if i see the other part is not a willing participant
The joke / event is about the tragic police interactions with minorities in the USA and the connection that when i said that i was holding a STUN baton so i was related to sec what is related to the police.
And once more, if i have known that i have insulted anyone i would have apologized as my intension was only to crack a joke. I don’t expect to everyone play along with any of my interactions thro RP and of someone is not comfortable with it he or she can tell me and i will adapt to the new situation.
(i’m gay and i laugh a lot of homophobic jokes as they are JOKES for me, the intentions is the relevant part and not necessarily what they say.)
(my intentions was not necessarily clear in this situation but if he wasn’t walked just away i would have altered the course of actions, but now i only could just abandon that interaction as i was let alone with it, so when i said i didn’t get negative respond i meant that WTF could mean a lot and it was not clear for me what was his intentions and i could not clarify it as he just walked away, and i closed that interaction at that point)
Are you familiar with the rules, specifically rule #2 which is listed under our “Zero Tolerance Rules” and says
Absolutely no hate speech, slurs, bigotry, racism, specism (demeaning other characters in-game due to their in-game race), sexism, disability-related or anything even remotely similar.
I just provided my stand of point, if you feel like to denie my unban request it is in your power. I really like to play with this game, and i would look out what i say more after i saw how sensitive the community’s some member for this type of jokes. I have nothing more to say as my point of view was already presented.
The question is about if you have read and are familiar with the rules, not your point of view. If, in addition to answering the question, you’d like to provide your point of view on if what you did violated rule #2, and if not, why you don’t think it violated the rule, then please do so as that seems like something that other admins may be interested in
Hate speach - “abusive or threatening speech or writing that expresses prejudice on the basis of ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or similar grounds.”
(context matter, it was in a game and it was not intent to fulfill any of the definition parameter as I’m unknown of the true ethnicity of the player (what doesn’t matter for me) and all of my interactions were based on an in game event, (here i was on the line, but this definition is so unspecific as i don’t think blonde jokes are forbidden on this server (or the vas majority of jokes) as they would have counted as hate speech by the definition))
slurs (I’m pretty sure i didn’t used any slurs here)
bigotry - “obstinate or unreasonable attachment to a belief, opinion, or faction, in particular prejudice against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group.”
(I don’t think this stands here too, as i do not believe in it nor i have negative opinion from someone i don’t know, nor I’m in any faction.)
racism - “prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism by an individual, community, or institution against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.”
(I don’t think this apply as it was a an attempt for a joke. I did not ‘beat’ him nor did any actions nor continued with discriminatory speech. It was a clear attempt for a joke what in this case failed.)

(i would exclude this one as my character was black lizard i it wouldn’t change my course of actions if they were a moth or lizard or human (in this case) as it was based on a the similarity if the color of a real life minority and its unjustified situation) ( i might have misunderstood this one as I’m unfamiliar with this word)

(i would state that its not necessarily acceptable to do what i did, i was “dancing on the line” here but i would say i did not cross it. i warning of that i was close to cross a line would have been sufficient for me to think twice before i crack a joke. i still stand my point that i don’t think the ban was fully justified, but that is my opinion.)

The admin team has decided to accept this appeal, reducing the ban to 3 weeks from when discussion of the appeal began, which means the ban will expire about 2 weeks from now.
Many on the admin team are concerned about your justification for these actions, and none of the admins who participated in the discussion believed your actions were in line with the server rules.
Regarding your statements:
I highly recommend you not “dance on the line” of any rules in the future, particularly ones labeled as “zero tolerance”. If you are truly so uncertain of the intention or limits of rules as you claim to be with regard to rule #2, my recommendation is that you interpret them in the way that is most restrictive on you unless you are told otherwise by a Wizard’s Den game admin
