End Screen Station Performance Rating

Everybody loves green texting. It’s the number one thing antags strive for, completing all their objectives and seeing the green success next to each one at the end screen. However, if you were just crew, you get no recognition on the end screen, even if you and your department had the best shift ever.

With a Station Performance Rating appearing at the end screen, each department gets evaluated based on how well they did, as well as an overall rating of how the Station performed. How many Research Points did Science make? How many people did Medical save? What % of tiles on the station were clean? etc. etc. etc. But most important of all the information is the one green text every crew member can strive for - Did you escape to CentCom alive?

Without changing any of the game’s mechanics, I think adding information like this to the end screen will dramatically change how people approach each round of Space Station 14. Individual department scores will encourage people to do their job well, Station wide performance rating will promote departments cooperating, and every crew member having an “Escape to CentCom alive” objective might be enough to discourage some amount of valid hunting. I think a change like this will be an overall good thing, and I can’t see any reasons for not adding it outside of it being potentially difficult to code.

Good idea, but man is it going to make shuttle bombing more annoying.
That gripe aside, crew objectives are a neat idea that could be elaborated on more.

Giving a Research Point counter for Science or similar metrics would be relatively easy. But some other measurements may require a bit more work (how do you count how many people Medical saved).
But as for the idea, it would certainly give an interesting overview of how well the station handled the round and give people something to work towards, though I think this may need to wait for when most departments, well, have a reasonable amount of things to do.
Consider also: Only showing the few “most impressive” metrics.
Or: Randomly including silly things like “pancakes made” or “horns honked” for added funny points.

i think worst department award is funnier:

  • engi doing singuloose/teslaloose instantly earns it
  • sci letting lots of anoms crit
  • all of sec getting killed by a dragon/tider

big big wyci but its easier for everyone to laugh at 1 worst department than congratulate the best
