How long have you been playing SS13 or SS14? I have been playing SS14 since early fall of 2022, around September or October. I have at this very moment 1225 hours on SS14, around 100 of which is probably just sitting in the launcher by accident.

How many hours are you available per day: Usually 2-6, likely more depending on my work schedule.

Days you are available on: Sunday-Saturday I am available to join at least sometime in the day unless occupied with work, spending time with my family and friends, or just not at home or on the game.

Prior administration experience (SS13 experience recommended). Please also post a way for us to verify this: None unfortunately.

Have you been banned from our game servers or SS13 servers before? Fortunately I have not been banned!

This is the more essay-y part of the application, you should answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you’d approach adminning.   As an admin I would be focused on ensuring the safety of players and enforcement of rules while being mindful of the player experience with how I interact in aHelps. I want to make sure players understand I think a player should leave an aHelp from an admin happier and more understanding of the rules rather than seeing that little red box appear and getting afraid of being shut down and given no real explanation as to what they did if they genuinely didn’t know or need a little guidance. When I look at a lot of ban appeals they seem to be players leaving when the aHelp pops up or rather leaving before it even can… I don’t think that my interactions with players as an admin would be something they leave feeling upset about and I want the players to know that seeing that popup doesn’t have to be a bad thing either. I would go about not exclusively enforcing the rules but providing players with a space to have fun comfortably.

What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?   I believe that typically the role admins serve is to dish out rule enforcement but I think it is also to help players better understand the rules and how to play the game if they need to learn the ropes to help us stay grounded with the community and not only watching how servers function but to help them flourish and be their best. Admins should be an example for players and should be someone a player can look up to and feel comfortable communicating with be it in aHelps, OOC, or IRP.

How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the server? I think its become much better than when i began in late fall of 2022. I think the current status is quite nice for more major departments however I believe that some jobs like chef, librarian, and chaplain, can prove to be quite stale for many players and I hope to help remedy this via role specific events like maybe a giant pig gone wild causing chef and the rest of the bar to have some laughs or perhaps a poltergeist in the library or chapel!

Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?   I want to be able to make bigger changes compared to what I am able to as a regular player. I would like to be more interactive with players and help to make/keep admin-player interactions consistently fun, encouraging, and less intimidating to those with bad experiences in the pastor those that may be new and just dipping their toes into this community. I want to be a team-player via communicating and discussing these things with others among the team and work hard to make this community as friendly and healthy as we can. What I mean by this is that I want to be able to host events whether planned or on-the-fly to make things sillier or more entertaining while staying immersive. One such event I want to work on is a traveling circus, and event that would take some planning but the premise is a gang of clowns announcing to the station of their imminent arrival, then docking and heading to bar to perform silly tricks like getting out of a clown car, pulling a dwarf clown out of a hat, or maybe a super speedy clown… Light-hearted fun that will bring people together and make an event that’ll keep players buzzing and asking for more! I believe that I can provide passion and assistance to be a pillar of this community and someone you can trust and rely on as an admin…

—thank you for taking the time to read this.

We’ve recently updated the admin application. Since you applied before this update took effect, you do not need to redo your entire application, but please post your responses to the following situational questions in a reply here.

_ The following are scenarios, respond with how you would handle each as an administrator. Respond with the assumption that you are an administrator with full access to the admin tools, and that you have all the knowledge needed to use these tools. Respond in detail, explain the reasons behind decisions you make and describe any assumptions you are making. When you need to make an assumption, it is preferred for you to describe how differences in the assumption would affect your actions. _

It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. A chaplain prays to you “Give me a task my lord”.

You see a clown using crayon to write on the floor in front of security. The clown writings are negative things about security, like “shitsec”. A secoff tells the clown that they’re being arrested for vandalism, stuns them, and cuffs them. Before the secoff is able to get the clown into the brig, a passenger slips the secoff, causing them to lose their baton, then uses the baton to stun another secoff that comes to help as the clown runs away. The passenger escapes through disposals.

You log in to handle an ahelp that came in while nobody was online about “self-antag” activity. The player being reported as self-antagging was being a problem and could be considered acting outside of the rules, but they are no longer online and cannot be contacted about their behavior. While outside of the rules, the infractions are, minor and would not normally result in more than a warning in most cases.
