_infected - I think it was "acting childish"

Discord Username: guru#1671 (guru in discord)
Ban reason: I think it was "acting childish"
Ban Issue:
I did what I was banned for, but the ban is unreasonably harsh

Events leading to the ban

I posted in General that there was a flaw in the HWID ban implementation. I followed it with the fact i was banned from the ss14 (?) subreddit for talking about this bypass and also mentioning one could probably use VPNs on SS13 (?).

Users and admins immediatley ganged up on me calling me names, claiming I’m a horrible person for sharing the HWID flaw. I work in security and, honestly, this is a bad take. I tried to disclose the flaw and was jumped on. The code is open source… it’s not some secret.

Regardless - people ganged up on me, I got annoyed, and call them snowflakes. The snowflake comment must have made an admin quite emotional because they insta-banned me from the discord. Hardly fair IMO. I think the real issue here was that I pointed out a security flaw in the code and linked to the github. And that made some admin quite angry.

Reason the ban should be removed

I did what I was banned for, but the ban is unreasonably harsh. I truly think an admin was acting emotionally. I’ve been banned for a few weeks now. Would like to be able to actually see discord content…

Hello.

You were not banned from the discord because you tried to disclose a security flaw, or because an admin banned you after being emotionally wounded. Rather you were banned for having a horrible attitude in the discord, and threatening to help others evade their bans “ill be sharing the exact details of ban evasion with everyone i know now.”

Overall from the reading the chat logs it appears that you were the main instigator, and for most of the conversation you got limited responses from everyone in the chat up until the end.

It appears that in this appeal you have only doubled down on this attitude, as such the appeal is denied. You may appeal again in 2 weeks.

For transparency the chatlog of the incident has been attached. Reply information is not preserved. Relevant messages have been highlighted with ‘-’ at the start.

If you believe a staff member acted improperly through all this then you may submit a Staff complaint in the Staff Complaints section of the forums.
