New name hiding system

in ss14, if you have a mask on your face and you are without a card, you cannot be recognized on the RBM, but if you speak, your name will be visible in the chat. I propose to redesign this system so that if you did not have a card and you were wearing a mask, you would be marked as “?” and also if you are talking behind a wall or the apponent does not see you. and if you are wearing a mask but you are with a different card (the name
on the card is different) then yours is marked as the name that is on the map. P.S. I understand that there is a voice mask, but it is only available in the uplink and then you can change it to ANY name, but here I offer a cheaper and affordable replacement

By RBM I assume you mean right click? Right Bouse Mutton?

I’m also not sure what you mean by “marked as the name that is on the map.”

Showing your true name when speaking is an intentional design decision, since people would be able to recognize your voice.

The system you’re talking about is called the identity system. The issue with doing it like this is that it would be too easy to hide identity + it would not work with our current radio system. Why could you identify a voice over the radio but not right next to someone? if your id mattered when you talked then the voice mask would become pointless when you could just get an agent id.

I like the current system, it’s not a one-and-done deal with stealing and identity or making a disguise. You need to cover your face, your voice, and your id. Changing it in the way you are saying it would simplify the system to take id and hide the face, it removes the hardest part of the system and just shoves it into the id category.

If “marked as the name that is on the map.” means the medical scanner and suit sensors then that’s already a thing. They display the name of the id you have and not the person with the tracker.

Mmm, you’re partly right, but I suggest this idea so that conditional agents (or roles for which disguise is important) can talk calmly and are not afraid that they will be listened to behind the wall and then handed over, and even more so it will add complexity to the security service. Well, as for me it’s more interesting

And the theme with masks is more realistic for me (I understand that this is a game about 2d astronauts)
