Patches - Metacomms

SS14 account username: Patches
Ban reason: Metacomms
Date of ban: March 17th 2023
Length of ban: Indefinite until appeal
Events leading to the ban: I was playing on [EN] Wizard’s Den Lizard [US West] with a friend of mine. We were in a voice call on discord hanging out as we figured out the game, enjoyed the chaos, and roleplayed out scenarios. My friend went afk since they were tired and needed a break with no intention of coming back, they made that clear to me. Playing a medical assistant, I watched as people kept trying to resurrect them. I didn’t want them wasting their time, so I told the rescuers my friend wasn’t playing anymore. I told them I was in a call with them and they had left the game. It was a few minutes after that I got banned from the game.
Reason the ban should be removed: I didn’t know being in voice calls outside of the game was against the rules, my mistake for not reading them properly. I didn’t think there would be an issue since we weren’t cross-teaming or rigging the game against anyone, we were only talking to each other to figure the game out and have fun in vc by roleplaying silly scenarios, like running a bar or assisting in medical. We were enjoying sharing our experiences with the shenanigans that went on in the game.

I had tried to talk in OOC about my friend being AFK, but I didn’t see my messages pop up and no one responded, so I talked in local chat where I knew others would see it.

I’m sorry for breaking the rules, it won’t happen again. It was an honest mistake.

I was just told by my friend that the reason they left is because their computer overheated and froze the game. I was focused on the game at the time and didn’t hear this part when they said they were stepping away. They were later able to get back into the game (miraculously without being kicked for being afk or dying) and tried to continue playing when we were both banned.

Administrator consensus is to accept your appeal. You will be able to play again. Please do not engage in metacommunications in the future.
