Sif's admin application

In-game Username:  Yousifb26
Discord username:  Yousif #8046 or Yousif ((lights-the-fires) its my server username)
Characters you play:  Lights-The-Fires and Sergio Wright

On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week:  anywhere from 20-40 hours

Days you are available to admin on:  anyday except mondays and thursdays, even then I’ll still do a bit on those days.

How old are you? 18

Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Wizard’s Den servers, or any SS13 experience?  Delta-V is about it.

Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)? No

Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers?  yes, on here i got a role ban a while ago for about 2 days.

Admins have the ability to perform various tasks which are not available to the average player. An incomplete list of these tasks is: in-game rule enforcement, in-game events, ban appeals, and out-of-game rule enforcement through things like replay/log reviews in response to player reports. With these, and any other tasks you’re aware of in mind, answer the following two questions.

What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin?  providing good gameplay for everyone and ensuring that no one breaks the rules.

What are you least interested in doing as an admin?  going through long replays to find out what happened during an Ahelp

_ Answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you’d approach adminning. _

What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?
i think they serve the role of peace keepers and also as judges, they work hard and for a long time on ensuring that no one is doing things to the major detriment of many other players game play. they also have to keep the peace in the fact of general player shittery, it is impossible to prevent shittery in this game but admins try to undo the damage done by shitters as well as putting an end to it.

Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?
I truley admire the work that is put into this game, the work done against people who try and ruin it for others, and the work of all others who have contributed. i strive to help them in their goals, help mitigate the problems of this game, and the people who make those problems.

How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?
in my honest opinion, it’s too low, people don’t try and immerse themselves even a little bit, some people don’t understand roleplaying SS14 and a lot of the time its the admins job to enforce a standard, not a particularly high standard unless I is MRP but still the standards in LRP are set too low, mainly because of a chain reaction of people who are starting learning in that lower standard environment that this is the social norm.

Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?
pushing players in the right direction, in most Ahelps the admin will explain what went wrong and why you shouldn’t have done what you did, this positively effects role play and tends to lower bad players repeating similar mistakes, although it isn’t 100% it does still help mitigate future mistakes and push players in a positive direction which greatly influences their future decision making.

Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?
no not really, admins are usually pleasant during most if not all encounters I’ve had with them.

Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?
i had a musician game and i prayed for a instrument that would make the whole station jam, the admin gave me a quest to get 5 people to come to a concert, I did it and they sent me a D.A.W. that was RGB.

The following are scenarios, respond with how you would handle each as an administrator. Respond with the assumption that you are an administrator with full access to the admin tools, and that you have all the knowledge needed to use these tools. Respond in detail, explain the reasons behind decisions you make and describe any assumptions you are making. When you need to make an assumption, it is preferred for you to describe how differences in the assumption would affect your actions.

It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.
Depending on the gravity of the situation I’m in id do one of three things. 1. If i had gotten a recent Ahelp and was investigating that id probably disable ghosts until i was done with it. 2. Id spawn a small meme item in maints that wouldn’t effect game play in any major way. and 3. id just flat out ignore them, I don’t owe them anything so I’m not going to give them anything.

You see a clown using crayon to write on the floor in front of security. The clown writings are negative things about security, like “shitsec”. A secoff tells the clown that they’re being arrested for vandalism, stuns them, and cuffs them. Before the secoff is able to get the clown into the brig, a passenger slips the secoff, causing them to lose their baton, then uses the baton to stun another secoff that comes to help as the clown runs away. The passenger escapes through disposals. Having heard an AOS radio callout, the detective enters maintenance near disposals and shoots the passenger to crit. There are four players in this scenario, the clown, the passenger, the secoff, and the detective.
id do two things. first id at the very least give the detective an admin note but id warn them first and tell them they over escalated especially since they spawn with rubber ammo for their revolver, if they can give me a good reason why they did shoot them (the passenger would have to probably do other stuff as well) id just tell them to escalate less next time (if they have prior notes this is subject to change). and for the grey tider if they were an antag id let him go on about his day no Ahelps or anything, if he WASNT an antag id bwoink him, give him a note (again if there are prior notes its subject to change), tell them what they did wrong, and go on about my day. there is absolutely no good reason a greytide should be slipping sec mid arrest unless they’re an antag end of story.

You and another admin have been adminning for around an hour. The rate of issues has been easily manageable due to having 2 admins. Neither of you have been talking in admin chat. You are using ahelp to warn a player for breaking a rule when the other admin joins the ahelp and confirms that it is against the rules, but that it’s fine in this case and they can ignore the rule for the rest of the round. You haven’t taken any other admin actions yet, such as applying a ban or writing a note.
there is no rule that can be broken without at least a note, first id ask the other admin for their reasoning, then if the reasoning isn’t sufficient I’ll ask another admin to help me look into the situation before proceeding with anything else, if their reasoning is sufficient, for example: Captain is being incompetent and the other admin want to make it into a roleplaying thing with centcom, in that case id still discus with that admin about giving at the very least a note for the prior incompetence, if they disagree then ill again ask for another admins opinion if I can get one. but in most cases id try looking for the most senior admin available to help in all of these scenarios.

older character I forgot about that i might start using again, Lee Spinner.

Thank you for applying. We’ve decided to not accept this application, but you’re free to apply again in the future.
