Singularity Network, Nuclear14, DS14, AU14 Hub Appeal

Username: Peptide

Dehubbed server: Singularity Network, Nuclear14, DS14, AU14

Link to dehub announcement: [2024/12/17] Dehubbing of Einstein Engines servers

Reason for server being Dehubbed:
“I will be dehubbing your server in 24 hours unless the Einstein Engines council either desists in harassing me and upstream Space Station 14, or you choose to leave your involvement in said project

Reason the server should be rehubbed:
Hello SS14 moderation team,

I’d like to respectfully request reconsideration of the ban against Singularity Network and its associated servers.

Over the 6+ months, our focus has shifted significantly inward. We’ve stepped back from wider community engagement and instead concentrated on quietly supporting new forks and experimental servers, with our original intent with fallout still intact; to help broaden SS14’s creative potential. We’ve been offering free hosting, technical support, and guidance to small communities who otherwise might not have had a chance to thrive and asked for nothing in return. Some still exist and some have moved on from our hosting. Trieste Port, Grey Station, Nepu Station and Null Sector, all running on our server with zero involvement from me past supporting the hosting.

I want to acknowledge past mistakes. Some of our previous staff fell short of the standards we expect, and we accept responsibility for that. Since then, we’ve removed problematic individuals, clarified our staff code of conduct,
and brought in new team members aligned with a more constructive, respectful culture.

Personally, I’ve been largely burned out from the game itself since last year’s drama. My role has become mostly supportive; advising, occasionally contributing to our forks and others (I’ve only recently started again) and being a chief ideas guy like I was known in the past, brainstorming experimental settings that can add variety to the SS14 ecosystem. I care about the project and want to see it grow.

If I’ve ever come across as overly critical of other communities or how things are run, I genuinely regret that. It was never meant as an attack. The truth is I care deeply about the future of this game and its community, and I genuinely believe I have something positive to contribute. I’d much rather return to a collaborative environment than be remembered as someone who took a wrong turn.

I understand that trust must be earned, since our last appeal as I say I’ve disengaged further from the game and took the time to get our house in order and I appreciate that it looks like this process has improved too, judging by other appeals.

If there’s a path forward, whether it’s transparency expectations, probation, or something else, we’re ready to meet it in good faith. All we ask is for the opportunity to be judged based on our current actions, not indefinitely on the past.

To be clear, our involvement with EE ended before the last appeal and that remains the same.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Hi Peptide,

As you’ve probably noted from other appeals in this section, I’ll be serving as one of the individuals reviewing your hub appeal. As I’ve stated elsewhere, I am still reviewing details regarding the Einstein Engines dehub. Given the nature of the dehub itself as well as the volume of information and communities involved, it will take some time to review this particular appeal and come back with an informed decision.

To keep this short and simple for now, my response here is mostly to assure you that the appeal itself has been read in its entirety and that the hub admin team will be reviewing things over the next few days at the very least, though to be honest it will probably take longer than that to reach a complete resolution. In the meantime you’re more than welcome to provide evidence or statements here demonstrating areas where you’ve walked back stances or statements previously made in regards to your original dehub, or really anything that you believe would help strengthen your case towards being allowed back onto the hub as a community (or network of communities, in this case). Conversely, if you have questions about anything, you may ask them here as well and I’ll try to get a response for you when time permits.

Just to add some additional context / evidence although I’m very sure you will have done your due dilligence, our last appeal was March, I sent a total of 40 messages in the EE discord in March ranging from technical help, general chat about game licensing (TF2 and Red Alert 2), hosting stuff and some criticism and skepticism towards the new launcher. This was around the time our appeal got rejected so we were actively seeking an alternative, as not being on the hub is a long term death sentence for any community, so anything said at the time or as a result of the rejection you need to understand was emotional, and there will always be an element of that, however I’ve said on multiple occasions now I’d love to bury the hatchet and move on progressively and collaboratively, or at least be civil.

5 messages in April, again just being critical of new launchers and talking about our free hosting we offer. And 4 messages in May posting videos and screenshots from Nuclear14 to there since we are a downstream (for how much longer who knows). Since 15/05/2025 there has been no more involvement with EE and I’m frankly quite burnt out trying to keep Nuclear14 up to date with it and are exploring some form of hard fork to just focus on features. There are people from EE in our community and on the team but they largely keep to themeslves and I am 100% adamant on keeping the projects separate, EE is ran by SimpleStation which we have zero involvement with outside of that cross pollination in EE and my early contributions (or anything that has been ported from our codebases by others to them).

As previously stated I’ve taken a more insular approach to communities this year and have largely distanced myself from others as its far easier to protect our interests, wellbeing and reputation that way. Hope that adds some useful context.
