Character name: Don’t remember
When was the ban: I have no clue, its been too long
Server you were playing on when banned: N/A
Your side of the story: I’m not sure to be quite honest. I was apparently banned for "trolling and because I was “on thin ice”. I do remember breaking some lightbulbs, but in all honesty, I don’t think that’s really trolling since that doesn’t entirely affect anyone else’s game play once the janitor fixes them. Plus, it actually gives the janitor something to do.
Why you think you should be unbanned: I was already on thin ice for genuine reasons, but I don’t believe this ban was reasonable. I find that most players spaz out over the simplest of things, and that is really annoying to be honest. For example, lets say I’m head of sec, and a clown comes over and pies me in the face. Obviously I’m going to respond by stunning or arresting, but then they freak out and start accusing me of going rouge and arresting for no reason. There are multiple times situations like this have happened its really getting annoying. On top of that, if there is a genuine criminal or someone evading the ability for me to stun, I will occasionally use lethal force, with the intention of cloning them and then arresting, but then they begin freaking out and complaining to the mods.

Now, not every case has me as head of security, but whenever a small inconvenience happens to another player (such as me breaking lights), I find that they begin freaking out and complaining to the moderators.

In conclusion: Maybe I just don’t understand what “trolling” really is, but I feel as though valid arrests, general mischief (as a clown/mime), and self defense don’t typically warrant a ban.

Anything else we should know: If my ban appeal is taken into consideration, I would highly appreciate if a moderator could help clear up with me what small things may count as bannable trolling. Thank you.

I would also like to add this: the ss13/ss14 series isn’t like any other game I’ve ever seen. Nowhere else are you able to interact with other players in such a personal and fun way. The text chat function and the different roles make it so that no round is the same. This is especially apparent in ss14, where almost anything can happen. The game gives players such a degree of freedom to make each round stand out, not only in a role-play aspect, but also in a gameplay aspect, that it is almost unparalleled in anything else out there. If my previous post’s conclusion comes off too harsh for some reader’s palates, then let this be the take away: ss14 is a whole different type of game where you can really get into the roleplaying and gameplay, and I would hate to see it reduced to something where a random player kills everyone every round. On the other hand, however, it would be a tragedy  for this game to limit player’s freedom of choices, especially if it is simply due to the demands of a very vocal group of naysayers. It’s these choices (mischievous or not) that give each round that you play its own style, and nowhere else can that be found, but in ss14.

We have decided to keep the ban active.
