We need to buff the raid suit

so currently we have the syndicate raidsuit, a very powerful multipurpose armour avaible for nuclear operatives with 70s in all resistances factoring in the helmet. problem this armor sacrifices the spacing protection from the normal suit, and with the reversion of spacing. a single engineer can stop you by simply deconstructing the floor, and currently the crew has no reason not to just space the station or worst yet AI’s siphoning the air (even if you have agent IDs)
soo basically the raidsuit needs something else going for it other then high defense due to the exetreme spacing weakness…

the simplest buff i propose is simply removing the 10% slowdown and fully comit to making it the speed ., maybe a slight pressure resistance so you have an opprotunity to escape the spaced area.
i want to hear ideas

Afaik the “plan” is to “merge” the raid suit into the nukie hardsuits by giving them a Vacuum mode and a Combat mode, with each mode being more geared toward that role, offering them robust combat performance (for free?) but more or less taking away their incentive to vent the entire station (which is rather annoying for the crew, so good riddance). But I’m not involved with designing this so don’t know the exact specifics

I can’t see a world in where nukies would not vent the station. Purely because it limits crew Soo much, it turns a 4v80 into a 4v20

This is how it works on most SS13 forks to my knowledge.

You have a bimodal hardsuit with space proofing and poor but existent armor, or you swap over to having very potent armor but space fucks you over like it does for everyone else.

You get to choose on the fly instead of having to be stuck with one or the other and change suits.

I for one never want to see this change. Hardsuits are frustrating enough as is. I really do not want to micromanage “handsuit modes” while also fighting the crew.

I do not understand this need to make Nukies feel like total chumps. They’re literally a fabled myth of scary terrorists. They can and should space the station because, they intend to fucking blow it up. They’re outnumbered so heavily, crew should be smart and find ways to counter them. With the recent barotrauma changes, I actively have to use my brain now to combat them instead of throwing on a bulletproof vest and charging in recklessly. That’s a healthy change in my opinion.

And I understand that you are only reporting on the existence of that change; none of my confusion/frustration is directed at you, but rather at the idea that change enforces.

Off topic but because of the game I completely forgot this was a real word lmao I was sitting here thinking there were combat changes to cause specific body part damage like in SS13/Barotrauma :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

On topic - as an engi/atmos main (recently), I wouldn’t mind seeing a little disincentive to spacing the station…

So do you have a solution or an idea to buff it or just a solution in general

Raid Suit should have upsides that make it worth forgoing the spacing. Perhaps good combat move speed or stun resistance.

I don’t necessarily think the Raid Suit should be good enough that a whole Nukie team can take it as an upgrade over their normal suits. It should be a sidegrade or worse.

I honestly prefer maybe if the Raid Suit is a Lone Op focused item. A suit they can buy that enables them to be tanky, but still hit the station hard and fast, unlike the Jugg suit.

If it were Lone Op only, you could very easily allow it to be more powerful than normal without being worried about balance with full squads. I wouldn’t mind seeing some Lone Op restricted items in general. Dsword for example, and maybe a box of premade Lube Nades/Med jugs since there’s no way to make chems as a Lone Op.
