On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week:
After school and during the weekends. Can’t be on all the time, but I love this game so much I pretty much am on all the time anyway. I am, admittedly and unhealthily (unhealthyly?), on extremely late and I get to see a lot of lowpop rounds. Would love to admin during them and make them a little funner!
Days you are available to admin on:
Weekdays and also weekends! the only time I wont be able to be on is if ive got something important going on.
Are you at least 18 years old?
Yup.
How long have you been playing SS13 or SS14? Since 2022.
Its been one of my favorite pasttimes, but ive been playing it a hell of a lot more these past few months. Ive got a tiny amount of hours in the game (300) compared to a lot of the guys who play a lot, but I know a lot about the game itself.
Do you have prior administration experience?
Not really, but I do have a few friends on the team who ive been learning the ropes from. I know quite a bit and I am aware on what is acceptable and correct to do in a lot of situations.
Have you been banned from our game servers or SS13 servers before? No.
Answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you’d approach adminning.
What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?
To make the game more enjoyable to others, whether that is from helping with bugs, resolving problems within the game or helping players when they need it, keeping the game fun and immersive to the player.
How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the server?
I really love it! I primarily play LRP (Lizard) but MRP like leviathan is fun too. Whether it is LRP or MRP, I think it is so fun to interact with others and everyone seems to get along pretty well.
Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?
Since I dont know C# and I cant code for the game (I am illiterate in all computer-language garb), I really want to become involved with the events and the game itself. Ss14 is one of my favorite games of all time, and the exponentially increasing updates for the game have me really hooked. I want to do all I really can to keep the game fun and keep the community great!
Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?
From my experience, Ss14 is so special from how intertwined the contributers and admins are with the players and how fun they all are. I love when admins get involved with rounds and make them fun by adding special events and cant wait to be doing them myself!
Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?
Ive only ever had one (in my opinion unjust) RDM warning, and I think the punishment system could really be more thurough if admins did a (little) more research or questioning before punishments. Theres nothing I hate more than shitsec!
Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?
Nearly every experience ive had with a admin have been the highlight of that round. I absolutely love when they do something special for the players, as well as helpful they are when it comes to bugs.
The following are scenarios, respond with how you would handle each as an administrator. Respond with the assumption that you are an administrator with full access to the admin tools, and that you have all the knowledge needed to use these tools. Respond in detail, explain the reasons behind decisions you make and describe any assumptions you are making. When you need to make an assumption, it is preferred for you to describe how differences in the assumption would affect your actions.
It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. A chaplain prays to you “Give me a task my lord”.
It depends! Maybe Id do something like a smoke bomb and spawn a giant lizard plushie in it, so when the smoke clears the chaplain has something to worship, and they can choose whether they spill blood or keep it clean depending on their role. It really does depend on the round and the person, but id love to give them something to do that isnt a major interference in the round.
You see a clown using crayon to write on the floor in front of security. The clown writings are negative things about security, like “shitsec”. A secoff tells the clown that they’re being arrested for vandalism, stuns them, and cuffs them. Before the secoff is able to get the clown into the brig, a passenger slips the secoff, causing them to lose their baton, then uses the baton to stun another secoff that comes to help as the clown runs away. The passenger escapes through disposals.
I wouldnt interfere! As long as it isnt severe harrasement, I find it funny how people write things like that on the ground. I dont think that is worthy to give a warning or a punishment to either party if they arent doing anything past this, especially if either one has any antag roles or any past relations to sec that would make it justified for them to be arrested/run from sec.
You log in to handle an ahelp that came in while nobody was online about “self-antag” activity. The player being reported as self-antagging was being a problem and could be considered acting outside of the rules, but they are no longer online and cannot be contacted about their behavior. While outside of the rules, the infractions are minor and would not normally result in more than a warning in most cases.
If applicable, Id watch the replay as well as check if they have done anything like it before. If i deem worthy, I would write a warning to them if I see them online again. I dont think logging off after being reported is worthy of a larger punishment, as a lot of cases arent intentional on the offender’s end.
An exemplary example of how to perform as an admin
