I don’t know what Wizard is told when they spawn, but on the antag tab of character customization the wizard’s description says “Teach them a lesson they’ll never forget.”
Now that doesn’t necessarily mean they should go full murderbone, but it certainly doesn’t sound like just a friendly magic clown putting on a show.
The guidebook does say they are an agent of chaos and unpredictability. Which is why my suggestion was for their use of magic to result in increased disaster events around the station. So the wizard doesn’t have to engage in combat to create chaos, they can choose to be creative.

I second the idea of wizard loadouts that give you a free thing and custom objectives.
Perhaps this comes with specifically colored robes to give the crew a visual check that lets them know which loadout the wizard is rocking. That’s the difference between the wizard as a Free Agent and the Rat King/Skeleton. With Rat King you can quickly tell if they are powerful or not. With Skeleton, are they armed to the teeth? They are probably scary then. Red robes = scary wizard. White robes = friendly wizard.
I’d like to think of it as D&D schools. School of Destruction, School of Clownery (Blessed by the Honkmother), etc. This also opens up a cool design space where people can make PRs for their dedicated wizard class. Say I wanted to add School of Necromancy for example.

I dont think so, part of the fun of being a friendly wizard is playing around sec and command until they chillout and ofensive mages can play around with this as well pretending to be crew only to be like aaand explosion time.

Just thought of one thing that MAY help with the whole everyone gets a wand/gun and goes mad thing. Rather than making folks free agents just keep them non-antag but keep the rest of surivor the same, so folks have to do anyhting to surive but are less likely to go crazy and blast each other for no reason.
the reason behind making survivors free agents is so that event spells arent a massive drawback to wizards; arming every non-antag on the station just means you’ve given everyone a gun to shoot you with. Making them free agents means they might not do that
yeah… i was just thinking of how to get crew to stop just going murder hobo when they goal is meant to be survive…

do what paradise does. make it so 10% of people are a “collector” free agent and must ammass whatever you handed out by any means. now you basically just make 10 minor(?) antag on 100pop
