Wuggeh's ban appeal - self antag

Ban reason: “Selfantag and round-removal. Beat to death and then kitchenspiked a man as a non-antagonist”

Length of ban:  7,200 minutes. Expire Tuesday 3/12/24 at 1:24 AM UTC

Events leading to the ban: Tom foolery with banana peels at botany led to an engineer dropping his baseball bat and us taking it. He jumped over the counter demanding it back and we told him to get lost after he started hitting us as well as threatening to make botany spaced. Spoke with fellow botanist that if he comes back to start trouble we jump him. He comes back with another bat, then a fight breaks out and we end up killing him. In the heat of the moment I decided to kitchen spike him. Which in hindsight is not my brightest moment. I was bwoinked shortly thereafter and removed from server.

Reason the ban should be removed : My issue is not with the ban itself. I agree with the ban. I broke the rules and got caught up in the moment for the joke. My issue is with the length of the ban. A while back I started Cargonia and was spoken to about this and given a 12 hour ban. This was a clear message and I have stopped any activities relating to this and discouraged other players that mention Cargonia in LOOC. I argue that this is a large discrepancy on terms of rule breaking and admin punishment. This feels like the length of my ban is subjective to how the admin feels at the given moment. Rather than an objective length based on actions. Again, I feel the admin was correct here for the ban. I was in the wrong for my actions. But I argue that the ban for five days is excessive.

Regards,
Wuggeh.

Our banning policy stacks the more rules you break, bans received. I can see you had previously been warned/ had notes of self antag behaviour twice prior and had the previous ban for the cargonia which increases the time.

You can see the banning policy here:

I’ve reviewed the ban it meets our banning policy for such issues, ban stands.

To enable speedy review of all appeals, appeals that meet certain requirements may bypass the standard, often lengthy, review process. Our banning policy requires appeals which are denied using the speedy review process have this notice placed on them. Any of the following criteria typically make an appeal eligible for the speedy review process:

  • the ban length is less than or equal to 14 days,
  • the appeal is older than 7 days, or
  • the result of the appeal is obvious.

In some cases, the banning admin may process the appeal. The banning admin cannot process the appeal if:

  • the facts that led to the ban are disputed,
  • the appeal makes a claim that the admin who placed it was biased, or
  • the ban was not within the ban guidelines.

You may contact a head game admin if you believe this appeal was handled improperly, but should be aware that this will typically only result in a review of the processing of the appeal itself, with the appeal being re-opened if an issue is found. An appeal is considered to have been processed improperly if the criteria to use the speedy review process was not met, or if the facts which the processing admin relied on to process the appeal were incorrect. You must concisely describe why you believe the appeal was handled improperly. If no issue is found with the processing of the appeal, the appeal itself will not be re-reviewed. If, in bad faith, you claim that an appeal was handled improperly, the reviewing head admin may decide to extend the time you must wait before you appeal and/or extend your ban duration. You can find a full list of staff, including head game admins at the staff directory.
