It isn’t even hard to prove most of the time (they pretty much engage on nrp behavior agaisnt anyone but sec and command on the worse cases), in the worse cases you will need to watch that player for a few games for see if they do it often but is genuinely not that impossible to notice if they do it often and non stop due to their sheer hate to the ONLY ITEM at gives them a interaction where a syndie/antag doesn’t just violently murder them. This gets worse when you realize at thiefs heavily depend on the gloves too.
The screenshot pretty much shows how open are command mains to metagame thief gloves… later we will be complaining at syndies are too murderbone.
C’mon you can’t ban people for just moving around. I’m sorry to say this but that’s a skill issue in my opinion. Find a way to distract the captain. Get them to talk about something, you can’t walk and talk.
As the screenshot shows this isn’t true, command players have somehow learned to talk while moving from time to time for avoid stealing and they do this even on green with no proof of thief gloves.
I have seen this behavior enough for tell you at it is REALLY obvious, it can barely be considered “banning because you moved”, it would fall under the category of a metagaming ban. Even on the worse cases you can just watch a few rounds with the suspect on it and you will likely see a pattern where they act all normal until they are with crew, where they become way more active and barely stop moving at all.
The only ways i can see this being fixed is actually making people follow the damn metagaming rules and/or make thief gloves work while the target is moving
I had my gloves and shoes stolen off of me 3 times in my last (antag) shift as an engineer. After which point I somewhat subconsciously kept moving around once it was proven that my shit had been stolen along with the CE who was standing next to me’s boots.
It’s something you can’t really enforce on anyone reasonably I think.
If anything the issue is more often that sec will hard metagame thief gloves by trying to pickpocket each other with black gloves to see which are real or not.
In the situation you described it probably would be justified for you to act like that. It isn’t metagaming if you are being really annoyed by a item you know ic at is being currently used.
It can be enforced but it requires checking the replays so i am starting to think at allowing thief gloves to steal from moving targets may be the only good solution for this.
Im pretty sure you can use chameleon to change the thieving gloves to something other than black gloves. Only thieves gets these gloves as syndicate thieving gloves do not have this option. So its weird that they even get metagamed? unless something changed because i swear i made my thieving gloves nitrile gloves as i was playing a chemist.
As for the moving part, i don’t think its doable to enforce this every time, i think thief should get some improvements instead so the movement part doesn’t affect him, for one allow him to pickpocket while moving, so he can just follow their targets and pickpocket them as long as they are close enough. other solution is to make thieving gloves work like emag, it has three charges and you can instantly pickpocket something but you need to choose wisely. Maybe some way to immobilize them would be good too, like beartraps or really sticky glue that immobilizes while evaporating, or just give them stunbatons so they can stuncuff and drag into maints to rob but you can probably steal these anyway.
Yeah i was trying to avoid to give any kind of buffs to syndie/thief gloves but the movement meta is so hard to punish we may have no other choice but allow the gloves to steal while moving.
I can already see the command mains crying about it and demanding nerfs if it actually goes through
That would be a unironically good item for sec but the command players at have created this issue in first place WILL powergame any item at counters thief gloves… we can’t have nice things here.
