Addressing issues and giving suggestions

The general stuff

Applies to everything

  • Weapons in general should have directional based reflection, like if you’re facing straight it has max reflection chance, facing to the side, half reflection chance and facing back is no reflection chance.
  • Wideswing should be reworked again, you should be able to charge up the swing for a second to deal max damage.

Engineering

  • Atmos has been super nerfed and lacks in content a lot. I think the main goal for the atmos workgroup is to buff it more and add new gases, which would make atmos WAY more fun. I personally do not like making mass amounts of frezon every single shift.
  • Readd firelock remotes. There is virtually no reason to remove them.
  • Maxcaps, which have also been nerfed. Lots of people hate maxcaps, but it has a lot of potential, especially for science. Maxcaps should be an actual GOAL of atmospherics and science, which would encourage science and atmos working together more.
  • Meteors destroy everything and end about 50% of the shifts just 30 minutes in. Not only are they so common, but they go through several reinforced walls too. Meteor shielding is USELESS against the new meteors. If you guys are not planning to nerf the meteors, there should be actual meteor shield tiles that engineering can construct, which would instantly destroy a medium-sized meteor, it would essentially act like 3 reinforced walls into a single tile.
  • Hidden doors are super stupid to construct and nobody wants to construct them. It takes way too many resources to construct. My suggestion for a solution is to make them like TGstation, where you construct hidden doors by unwrenching a wall and putting steel on it and if you think about it, it makes lots more sense. You push to open it and push it back to close it.
  • Singulo and tesla should not exist. TEG makes these completely useless and is also just a safer option in my opinion. Nobody is going to sabotage TEG, because it does nothing major. I think that singulo and tesla should be removed from the game and in the future replaced with the supermatter. TEG is simply just safer, more viable and better.
  • This is more of a mapping issue, but I believe stations should have construction zones where you can build rooms and stuff, because right now, engineering is super boring and I end up sitting in a chair and doing other things 90% of the time until something happens.
  • RCDs should be able to obtain more ammo by inserting materials into it like steel rods, steel, glass etc.
  • Lathes and imprinters should be able to obtain half a steel per steel rod, since it takes 1 steel to craft 2 rods.
  • Speaking of rods, the rod event round removes people randomly and should be removed.
  • CE suit should be fireproof.
  • CE suit should have a lower slowdown.
  • Merge the damn atmos console PR, it would make atmos much easier instead of walking around the whole station searching for spacings. Have it make an alert on the engi radio too.
  • Favourite tab in construction, more visual feedback for atmos devices.
  • Make gas miners upgradable. Miners are too slow and atmos can’t be refilled fast enough, some shifts can end because of this. Gas miners should also be indestructible.

Security

  • Security needs grenades that are more lethal: Concussion grenades, which would create a small 5x5 explosion that would damage people similarily to the explosive grenade you can buy from the uplink. This is incredibly useful for threats that camp in the corners. You can obtain them from cargo, which could buy 10 for 5000, or from the sectech which would contain 5 free concussion grenades. One main argument against this is stinger grenades, but everyone immediately picks them up roundstart and uses them on stupid stuff and nobody’s buying more sectech restocks.
  • Combat should be less RNG based and more skill based, such as shoving. Shoving should work like in SS13, where you push someone in an object and they get stunned. You can push someone in a wall and they get stunned for 1 second.
  • Radio noise for whenever someone talks.
  • Head of security’s suit should be quicker and warden’s suit should instead have 20% slowdown. Like seriously, warden’s is just an engi suit.

Cargo

  • Salvage lacks debris maps and has no unique loot. Also mining for 10 minutes then having to wait 12 doing the same debris over and over again is boring as fuck. An asshole can just steal your shuttle and leave you to die aswell, easiest and most boring way to kill salvs.
  • You should be able to take money out of the cargo console.
  • Make ammunition orderable on the cargo console for security.

Service

  • Librarian should have a console which can take in books and save them, it should also be able to print books that have been saved. The books will persist to other rounds, so you can read people’s creations.
  • The tg mood system would significantly increase traffic for the chefs and bartenders.

Syndicate

  • You should be able to just take off the voice mask using the action bar, how has this not been fixed yet?? It’s been a bug ever since the addition of voice masks.
  • Chameleon as of right now is completely useless, we need an action bar that can quickly change your chameleon equipment to a certain job, scrolling through the menu takes way too long and can get you easily caught.
  • Syndicate jaws of life should be much more quicker, right now it’s pointless and a waste of TC.
  • Power drills should be able to break locks after a long doafter, basically just a cheap EMag. This, paired with the syndicate jaws of life could simply just be an alternative to the EMag.
  • Objective choosing menu, some people don’t like to kill or are pacificist so they’d rather choose steal objectives or something.
  • Cargo objective to steal a certain amount of money out of the cargo console and escape on the shuttle with it.
  • Handheld camera monitor for 4 TC, cameras would be much more useful. This should also be a T2 secfab research node.

Nukies

  • It’s super boring and super repetitive. Now I know this can just be blamed on the commander, but they never have any sources of inspiration.
  • Commander should get tools for micro management. My idea for this is that commander gets his own super cool PDA with a custom program in it, which allows him to add and remove entries and add notes to those entries, those entries could then have subentries which are the same thing as entries (compositiooonnn). Every other nukie gets the same PDA with a similar app that can only see the schematic in read only mode. This could allow the commander to write a plan on the app, or assign certain nukies to teams, which he could then command around. Every nukie gets a small notification similar to the news feed about the changes whenever the commander presses a certain button. Reinforcements spawn with the readonly PDA too and there would be a cartridge for editing the schematic on the uplink.
  • Commander should also get an app that works like a crew monitor, which he can mark locations in red and see nukies in green. Nukies get the same app but readonly.
  • The commander should also get one last PDA app to announce things to all nukies similarily to the feedback thing. This could also just be merged with the schematic app aswell.
  • Nukies also need price increases on eswords and decreases on stealth items.
  • At this point, just add a nuke pinpointer. Nukies always have to either waste TC on an emag or have a borg emag a pinpointer.

Ninja

  • They should also get a cargo objective to steal a certain amount of money from the console.
  • The bomb spot should always be in medical.

In the current situation of the game, I’d recommend these solutions. Don’t add new antags, make the existing ones more fun.

This could honestly make for, like, double digit amounts of separate threads.
Putting it all as one lump unfocused post isn’t particularly helpful for further discussion.
And, relatedly, a few of those suggestions lack any justification for why they’re better than the alternative.

For one of the points: removing singulo and tesla because TEG is safer is just the wring way to go about things when them being unsafe is part of the point - teslaloose and singuloose are a part of the charm of the game. If anything, this needs a more surgical rebalance to make the risk/reward more reasonable.
Also, firelock remotes were removed because firelock bolting was…weird. There was a whole thread somewhere.

I’ve had rounds where people tesloose 5 minutes into the shift.

Please split this into individual topics for the reason stated above.

It’s nearly impossible for anyone to have any sort of discussion on this many different things all in one topic and reactions become meaningless because it’s impossible to tell what people did or didn’t like within the post they reacted to. Even things within the same heading here aren’t all within the same topic.

As was said above, there are multiple things listed here that provide no justification or additional information, as if it is obvious that the change should be made. The goal of most feedback is to try to convince people that a change should be made. If it is obvious to everyone that a change should be made and you provide nothing other than to say that it should be made, what is the purpose/goal of the feedback you are giving?
