On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week: I currently am not in school or working although that may change so I’d say most likely 5-6 depending on situation.
Days you are available to admin on: For reasons mentioned previously most likely 7 days depending on situation.
Are you at least 18 years old? Yes
How long have you been playing SS13 or SS14? SS14: 441 (Steam hours). SS13: 80 on FulpStation (Unknown for other stations).
Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)? I was a head admin once on a (now dead but once thriving) discord server, I could provide a link as proof if necessary.
Have you been banned from our game servers or SS13 servers before? No not to my knowledge.
_ Answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you’d approach adminning. _
What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?
They are in charge of moderating the server and helping to keep the game interesting when necessary, their role is to keep a friendly and fun environment for all.
How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the server?
I personally play Lizard and Leviathan, on those servers there is often instances of NRP behavior, I personally don’t like HRP so I stay away from servers like Salamander but I also do not like the NRP, I’ve seen various examples of such NRP behavior such as randomly attacking people, medical officers refusing to heal or revive patients due to their opinions of the patient, be that from current round or prior round. (meta-grudging) All of which I have Ahelped whenever I see such behavior.
Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?
Mainly because of the answer to the previous question, there is a lot of issues with players not acting as they should (In RP sense and in common sense) and I just want to try and help combat that, that way other players hopefully won’t have to experience as much of that as I and other players have.
Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?
Helping new players (when they can’t be helped In character) is a good way to make a positive impact. I also think that admin events (admemes) are a good way to bring some fun to a otherwise boring or uninteresting round.
Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?
There have been a lot of times I have played with rude or ignorant players, if someone was to act like this (In such a way it wouldn’t make sense for RP) I would most likely warn them about their behavior, I don’t believe that roleplaying as mean or snooty people as a non antagonist brings any kind of fun or interesting RP situation to the game.
Most of the admins I have interacted with have been pretty nice and calm head individuals, I would imagine there is a method to report out of line admins however I wouldn’t directly confront them about their behavior as that can only make such situations worse.
Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?
I have had many really good rounds, usually as either HoS or as the captain, although I can not recall such rounds at the time of typing this form out.
As mentioned in the previous question I have had plenty of good interactions with admins just being nice in general.
The following are scenarios, respond with how you would handle each as an administrator. Respond with the assumption that you are an administrator with full access to the admin tools, and that you have all the knowledge needed to use these tools. Respond in detail, explain the reasons behind decisions you make and describe any assumptions you are making. When you need to make an assumption, it is preferred for you to describe how differences in the assumption would affect your actions.
It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. A chaplain prays to you “Give me a task my lord”.
I could ignore it as I’d rather the chaplain find something to do on their own rather than keep coming back asking for more tasks, sometimes finding out what you’re going to do is more fun than just being told what to do.
You see a clown using crayon to write on the floor in front of security. The clown writings are negative things about security, like “shitsec”. A secoff tells the clown that they’re being arrested for vandalism, stuns them, and cuffs them. Before the secoff is able to get the clown into the brig, a passenger slips the secoff, causing them to lose their baton, then uses the baton to stun another secoff that comes to help as the clown runs away. The passenger escapes through disposals.
Assuming the passenger is not an antagonist I would most likely ask them in Ahelp why they did what they did, depending on their response I may give them a warning or not, since no harm is technically done I don’t believe that there is a need for a serious punishment. Regarding the clown writing on the floor that is more of an IC issue and I would rather security deal with them then interfere.
You log in to handle an ahelp that came in while nobody was online about “self-antag” activity. The player being reported as self-antagging was being a problem and could be considered acting outside of the rules, but they are no longer online and cannot be contacted about their behavior. While outside of the rules, the infractions are minor and would not normally result in more than a warning in most cases.
I am aware that there is a admin note feature allowing admins to add notes about certain players, since the actual infractions are minor I would most likely add such a note along the lines of “Was reported for minor self-antagging” (With additional information depending on what the player did and what the reports included) that way if they happen to come back online and cause more trouble, either I or another admin could work from there knowing what they did before.
