AI desperately needs to be killable

Title, it fucks over antags in every gamemode and needs to be killable / have counterplay.

destory cameras, understand and play by silicon rules
if you don’t want it to bolt a door then cut the AI wire, it can’t interact with doors with that wire cut
if you don’t want it to see you just kill cameras, i can’t remember if cutting the wires not working was ever fixed but just deconstuct it, it won’t be able to do shit if it can’t see you
understand what silicon rules actually mean, all they ask is to prevent crew harm, if you put a little thought into what your doing and don’t go running about with a gun in your hand trying to kill people then you should be fine.
if you really want the thing dead, you gotta right now detact it from the station somehow, a minibomb or RCD can easally cut it off

honestly just understanding silicon laws makes it all much more interesting, really the AI doesn’t care about you doing most stuff since all it’s concerned with is preventing harm, it’s not hard to ask it to let you into areas you shouldn’t be

With syndicates its a little bearable, but nukies or zombies for example can do VERY little. The AI simply bolts and shocks every door and its a pain, it needs to be killable.

AI (with default laws) shouldn’t be shocking doors vs zombies, that should be reported if it’s happening, though i guess bolting might be fine, granted it also could easally end up causing more harm if they bolt a door and end up trapping crew. again this all comes back to what the AI actually cares about, it preforming actions can cause harm if done improperly, while not preforming actions can cause harm as well

with nukies i guess it’s a little more complicated, but again they shouldn’t actually be shocking doors, since (with default laws) the nukies should be crew, as they have a valid station ID provided they bought or stole one. so really all the AI again cares about is stopping the two sides from fighting as much as possible.
yeah i guess this might actually be problematic, cool. more things for people to figure out! if your nukies and you don’t say, want the AI to mess with you, put in another law board that stops it, or just detact it from the grid using the free minibomb you get.

oh also the nukies don’t start with valid IDs, it’s the agent ID i’m refering to, since it updates your icon to be a valid crew icon

There are a rare few counters, but regardless. Its unfun having an immortal unstoppable crew sided thing happening, it should be killable

Friendly reminder to wreck/move law upload console if nukies annouce themselves cause if AI ignores/does not interpret nukies being “crew” while on antimov 3/4 of crew at minimum can’t do crap because of 93427 shocked doors and windoors while other side gets good ol version of command remote that works automatically. :godo:

AIV - “AI Vision” wire on cameras works just fine, the power one does nothing as AI vision system doesn’t check for the power of the camera, and that wire works through that system in turn.

From what I’ve gathered, the ability of AI to see through the cameras without APC power being present is “intended”, but also seen talks of that being replaced and having the static show the navmap instead (the stuff you get in power/atmos computer and the station map).

This is the future the disagrees want.
On god just let us smash the damn thing rather than this jank.

Just merge the intelicard PR.

You don’t need to disconnect the core like in that screenshot. You can disconnect the satellite from grid (get the wires and pipes too if there are any) and it can’t do anything anymore except chatroom.

You literally can’t do this on half of stations because the AI core is attached to the station with indestructible, undeconstructable tiles.

This exactly

yknow talking about antimov it doesn’t say anywhere that they have to kill crew, plus killing them stops them from being able to harm crew so theoretically antimov would acutally have the ai still not want to kill, just make it unbearable to live

What? The first law says all crew has to be dead and you can’t let that happen through inaction… idk, that’s kinda a lame way to think about it when the intention of the module is get them to kill the crew.

Ai should be a thief or syndie objective too, steal the ai with the intellicard was something I heard was in 13 and sounds fun.

I entirely agree with armok.

We are currently missing 3 “core” parts of AI counter play.

  • Intellicard AI removal + steal objective
  • Simple having the AI core be destructible/deconstuctable (let me steal the core/make a new AI somewhere)
  • AI detector in uplink that lights up when AI is nearby/watching you

These three things being lacking makes AI this near unstoppable force during warops/nukies.
Every door between nukies and crew, bolted probably shocked too.
Immediate call outs of locations without the reduction of 1 crew member to be manning the camera ui (which was already so jank it wasn’t really worth it)
AI/borgs casually ignoring laws to harm nukies with crew ID’s on.

Its just monumentally unfun to play against even a reasonably competent AI, never mind some of the giga AI players who multitask like 3 different tasks etc.

Ai detector should be a free or really cheap implant for syndies, nukies (and loneop) and ninja. maybe give this to syndie pais (and make it work even if there is no player inside the pai) for make them actually useful?.
If it is implemented for pais maybe borgs could also detect when the ai is nearby as well.
