Ban reason: self-antag + ahelp evasion : stabbed a secoff for no reason, disconnected mid ahelp before any explanation was given
Length of ban: Indefinite
Ban Issue:
I did what I was banned for, but the ban is unreasonably harsh
Events leading to the ban
I joined Lizard to play as a Chef. Unfortunately, I was rolled as a passenger. I ran around the station for awhile, in typical Greytide fashion, dismantling random chairs and collecting materials to trade for stuff with Engineering.
Unfortunately, the power went down on the station and it was so for like 10-15 minutes. By then I was seriously bored, thinking about what to do.
When I noticed a secoff pulling me due to obvious contraband (shiv in hand), I stabbed him and proceeded to run away (as I did not want to bother just giving things up, and having to do them over again). They captured me, of course, and I just chatted with them for awhile. Then I received an ahelp message discussing my actions.
I did not consider a single stab as greytide as self-antag enough - in fact, a positive (if only for me), random combat practice if nothing else. Moreover, at that time, I was bored and feeling sleepy, so I didn’t feel discussing things with ahelp because I felt it was a mountain out of a molehill and the ahelp moderator was completely in the right anyway.
In addition, I was hearing Greytiders breaking into armory, stealing guns, which felt like a much bigger thing was happening anyway for the single stab to count as anything worth particularly mentioning.
I expected a second warn or day/two ban for this, as well as a lesson to never do combat again as it’s too big of a pet peeve, but came to a complete ban.
TL;DR to sum up the issues pointed out by ahelp
- self-antag - a single stab to slow down a contraband-chasing secoff isn’t serious enough RP-breaking self-antag in my opinion, since space law would lock me for a long time for this.
- ahelp evasion - ahelp mod was in the right, and I knew i did a bad thing, so I didn’t feel there was needed to debate - just punish me and move on with things (i went to take a needed nap afterwards). I wasn’t trying to evade punishment, if that’s what it’s referring to
Reason the ban should be removed
Because it’s a second issue I caused in my 60 hours or so of playtime, and it was a single unjustified stab while station-wide power was down for 10+ minutes just at the start of a round, and Greytiders were busy breaking into armory, stealing guns (as far as I know).
It wasn’t a crit, it wasn’t repeated assault, it wasn’t round-removing like my first warning. I wasn’t trying to avoid punishment
