Any combat tips?

So I’ve been trying to learn ways to do the hurting real good but not only do i mostly play on a peaceful server but even on chaotic ones i tend to miss chances to defend myself as a citizen of space station 14. So yeah, I was looking for tips on how to end a tussle real good.

The ones that i know already:
Slippery is good for your enemies, bad for you.
Disarming is an option when barehanded.
Go for a baseball bat.
Go for the eyes, Boo!
So any others?

robustness comes not from the forums but from within

you must strip yourself of this label “citizen of space station14” and walk the path of 1000 tiders

The skill ceiling is not that high. Most of it comes down to having better weapons and armor. And also hitting first.
A laser can shoot trough windows and prevent any retaliation. Many weapons can/must be wielded with Z to be effective. And keeping a clear inventory to draw and reload your weapons quickly during combat is perhaps the highest skill ceiling this game has.

The best tip you can have is to pick your fights and use common sense. Even if you are a seccie you are not required to sacrifice yourself for the sake of it (altho you are expected to protect other crew from immediate danger).
If you have a knife to your name and see someone with a gun, just run. Focus your efforts on helping and protecting victims from more manageable threats, like dragging unconscious people out of dangerous areas.

As other commenters mentioned, hotkeys and common sense. There are a few ways to always win a fight. Surprising your enemy always helps, havong a plan when going in is needed, and being gaster allows dodging.

To truly improve your robustness, play security. The best way to improve is practice, and in security you get the most practice.

Stunning can be a good way of winning fights. If you think you can pull off a stun, it can give you an advantage. AFAIK stun-resistance is rare and most people can be stunned.

waay before, we had senior roles, when they existed, i tested and gathered up some basics in a text file so i could teach security cadets consistently, its no longer exists but from what i remember

  1. communications, communicate with your allies, even if you not good at somethink, more people can do wonders
  2. always seek cover, stay in covers and don t dance around, you both blocking your allies from shooting and making yourself inaccurate
  3. distance, always keep distance so you are less likely to get one shotted upon ambush/suprize
  4. ranged options over mlee options when possible
  5. don t pick fights you can t win, if you hit don t suicide attack, fall back and heal, your focus should be lasting long as possible and staying in combat much as possible since fight is about knocking your opponent out form combat by any means
  6. be on move constantly, fake retreats and attack from diffrent directions
  7. you can push or retreat for gaining advantage over your opponent, don t fight when you are in disadvantage and try to get advantage over your opponent
  8. don t let your opponent breath, even if you can t do damage, constantly poke at them, hit and run, do not let them have time to think or heal

(i belive there was two more steps but i fogor because its been long time, but these should still help)

Edit: remembered another one, when you out of your primary ammo, instead of trying to re-load under direct fire, switch to your pistol and empty it out fast as possible, the idea is doing much damage as possible in shortest time before you go down or get far enough to re-load (also ideally you want to aim for torso because its easier to hit and contains more squishy parts that knock somone out combat but idk how it will work in game since hits are guaranteed i belive? and pain shock isnt a think yet)
