I did what I was banned for, but the ban is unreasonably harsh

Events leading to the ban

I was a semi new player playing security for the first time. I was new and had read the rules, but skimmed the bigotry one because I’m not a bigot and have NEVER had an issue with a bigotry/ism rule in any context ever before, I also figured I needed a bit so I decided on a dirty cop. I engaged in some mild anti lizard rhetoric and said something to the effect of “Of course the station is falling down all around us, the captain is a lizard”.

Most everyone had a good time with the bit, I didn’t take it too far and despite enjoying it the people in postgame OOC chat warned me to cut it out or I would be banned. So, I did. I completely stopped with the specism bit out of respect for the rules and just enjoyed playing the game.

Like two weeks later, I am randomly banned for it despite already having completely reformed and solved the issue. I assume some trialmin was being shown replays or something, no idea.

I then go to appeal the ban. The appeal is mocked and the ban is maintained. This obviously made me completely lose faith in wizden’s moderation, an overzealous ban maintained and the appeal being mocked. I played other servers and generally came to understand ss14 culture and rules more. Having lost all respect for wizden due to my unreasonable banning I didn’t feel bad about alting on it to play with friends who enjoyed the server more than goob, it seems the automatic system caught one of those accounts. I haven’t played wizden since like 2024 regardless.

Reason the ban should be removed

I did not do anything I’ve done out of malice, spite, or anything like that. I’d like to be back on wizden in full official capacity because I’ve learned that plenty of your server members and even administration/owner are quite nice people and I’d like to share in their stories/moments in future.

My initial ban was over the top, considering that the bit was enjoyed by others, the worst mechanical consequence was a singular false arrest that was released almost immediately, there was no malice or hate behind it, and I stopped doing it minutes later when the round ended and someone told me it was against the rules. It was one singular instance that was a bit of a nothingburger, admins have even stated that it’s only outside the rules because they know actual bigots will use it to veil or play out actual bigotry, which is fair but I did not violate the spirit of the rule, I’ll also re iterate I stopped the moment someone brought to my attention that it was against the rules.

My multikey ban was born from a very understandable loss in faith in the administration, they had mocked the appeal I just illustrated to be very understandable and non malicious. (I may have been mildly snooty and expectant in appeal because the banning incident was such a nothingburger) I have not multikeyed for the 6 months I remember the rules stating multikey bans are unappealable for and I promise not to do that again since I’ve gained respect for some of your administration and would like to play with my friends whenever they wanna do wizden.

I’ve forgotten the login and information as I’ve swung into a more legitimate direction (having become one of the main hosts and design, mapping, PR, and balancing guy of a newer server), but I promise to not multikey in future, I haven’t done so in over 6 months as previously stated.

It didn’t tell me it was a voucher ban last time. Regardless I’m appealing the ban itself as being overly harsh considering the context. I don’t wanna have to jump through more hoops, please just use your own best judgement instead of rule sticklering. I can also show you a silly but otherwise clean note history from goob primarily.

If the “you absolutely need a voucher grrr” remains solid, would it be as simple as DMing a goobmin who likes me? I don’t understand what a voucher implies or whats wanted from me.

It came up in your last appeal. A voucher is just a voucher of good behavior from another server; it should be indicative of a few months of play without problems. So yeah, just grab an admin and ask if they’ll vouch for you. Goob does give vouchers, so you’re on the right track. :slight_smile:

You do need a voucher, because regardless of the original ban, you did make an alt account to try and evade it. That’s a serious violation of the core rules.

I would also like to point out that regardless of your perspective of ‘others enjoyed my RP speciesism,’ it’s overtly against our rules & it was reported to us to begin with.
