Banned Roles: Dewhitelisted from salamander
Ban reason: "Dewhitelisted according to geekyhobos instrusciton, citing repeated incompency as command."
Length of ban: Whenever I can re apply
Ban Issue:
I did what I was banned for, but the ban is unreasonably harsh
Vote Opt-Out: false
Events leading to the ban
I was goofing off in a quiet round, making jokes over the coms console, including a fake evac vote and a vote to execute hanmlet, neither of which would actually be follow through as evidenced by me clarifying such on command coms and sec coms. Nukies attacked the station, and were defeated. One was captured, and due to the fact they litteraly murdered half the station i repeatedly flashed them at centcom, trying to roleplay as being understandably upset about the whole nuke the station thing. I was given warnings for each of these, and then 4 rounds later dewhitelisted
Reason the ban should be removed
I believe that the reason for the dewhitelist is just wrong. First of all, I am NOT a incompetent captain. In times of genuine crisis I can comfortably deal with threats and return to normalcy. I don’t really see how making a few jokes over coms could be seen as incompetency, especially with me clarifying that they are, in fact, jokes. In my experience many people enjoy it, and when anything serious happens I drop it all. Its a running joke of mine to make these announcements at shift start, and they are harmless and generally funny, Speaking of which,
Secondly, cracking jokes in the game with literal clowns should be looked as good RP, and not bad. Nowhere in the rules does it state that command shouldn’t make these, only that they are “held to a higher standard of RP”. This “higher standard” shouldn’t mean we cant roleplay as anything other than serious drones of NT. I’ve worked extensively to give my character personality, traits, fears, and desires. To a outsider this may look like incompetence on the players part, but in my eyes I’m playing into the joke. From the beginning Jack has been a bit crazy, which sometimes rubs off the wrong way. Ive gained a bit of reputation, and as time has gone on I’ve played into the sentiment ironically, acting somewhat incompetent for the crews entertainment much the way a clown would, while behind command coms running the station efficiently. Whenever I do a crazy gimmick, I warn command and ensure we dont have any major problems.
What I’m trying to say is I’ve met the roleplay standard for command in a unique and non traditional way, and getting de whitelisted for a lack of roleplay is downright wrong. If the only acceptable way to roleplay is to take everything seriously and be a corporate drone, then so be it, that’s what I’ll do. But I’ve had no indication of my playstyle being wrong or incompetent beforehand. The only recent things of any note are me accidentally breaking the new meta shield rule. If I was warned beforehand I could’ve easily switched gears, but no warning was ever given. From the Aremark it seems as if GeekyHobo has had the opinion of me being incompetent for a while, but this was never relayed back to me. Again, I could’ve changed my playstyle, but without feedback or warning that’s impossible. I understand NOW I have to take things more seriously, but I would strongly appreciate being re whitelisted, as 90% of my gimmicks dont work on LRP, and I simply don’t enjoy it as much.
Thank you for your consideration, Carmelo
