Detail Questions
What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?
Well, i think they are a very important role as they are what makes the game playable but also what makes the game truly memorable. that being said I think they are insanely important to keeping the game healthy by keeping out people bad for the game.
Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?
Well, I really really love this game, like alot, and what to do what I can to help it. Starting tomorrow im gonna start supporting on patreon and I feel like a good way to help it would be admining it. I like being able to help people and I feel admining (especially during the later hours in which i tend to play) is a great way to help.
How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?
I quite enjoy it. I feel that most people play the game properly and follow the rules and enjoy the roleplay.
Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?
I mean, it has to be admemes, if we are talking about pure positive impact. i think they are what make the game truly unique. I remember one time i left a voicemail for the honk mother asking for pies and got pied in the face like 30+ times and it was hilarious, and truly made my day. But if we are talking about administrative actions warnings are a great tool to talk to people and get them to stop doing bad things without going to a more harsh punishment.
Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?
I dont think I have. Ive had exclusively positive interactions with admins!
Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?
Yes! too many to count! I remember one time just talking to thebossdude about his admining experience and if he enjoyed it. recently i had asked a couple questions in the admin questions of discord expect maybe one or two answers if i was lucky and got like five and it truly made my night. The admins that have been picked seem to love the game and community and cultivate a really great vibe!
Scenario Questions
Scenario 1
It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.
I would not “do something funny” (at least not immediately). My plan for going about admemes is a majority agreement from the end of round lobby and holding a vote. However, if already in a round i would wait for an opportunity, such as a prayer or voicemail, though it would be something minor. that or speeding up a mouse so it explodes when it hits a wall.
Scenario 2
This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why.
Well, going off what I know from the prompt, the hos and hop would get a talking to as to find out their reasoning for the coup, if it is an unreasonable coup a warning would be my next step, unless they have already been warned for something like this, in which case i would probably escalate to a role ban.
Depending on what the captain did to warrant the coup (if anything) I could see a warning being my move, probably not a role ban but that really depends on what they did. Qm didnt do anything wrong that I can tell from the prompt, and my response to the clown depends on a variety of factors, was it funny, were they refusing to give it back, were they actively killing people with it, and was it needed when the captain couldnt get it.
Scenario 3
You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available.
Well, going off the fact that 1: all admins are equally ranked, 2: this person has no prior issues noted, and 3: this would usually be a temporary ban I would probably temporary ban, despite what the other admin said. This situation, as described to me, seems to call for a heavy hand of discretion and I would trust my intuition and while i may be falling to a bias to the first thing i was told I do not believe that is the case. Being told to indef ban them for no reason gives me no reason to indef ban them over temp ban them.
