Changes to Space Law in regards to forceful implanting and extraction

Space law has been changed to clarify when a prisoner can be forcefully implanted and be implant checked.

The changes center around clarifying that you cannot hold someone indefinitely just because they may have an unidentified implant.

Released prisoners can be subject to forced implantation or extraction at a later time.

what do we do if we KNOW someone has an unidentified implant, DNA on injector

So, as for clarification sake:

Is having what is defined on the PR as “proof” that someone has an implant justification to hold them till said implant is removed, or does the change still apply even if you have “proof” of the person having an implant.

I ask because for example if that prisoner had a storage implant with a mini-bomb inside, I really do not want to let that guy walk free. However, depending on what the interpretation of spacelaw is, even if the guy tells you directly and you cant get an implanter in time then they can walk free and oh look caps gibbed by a minibomb :godo:

You may:

  • Find a discarded implanter with dna evidence.
  • Have something impossible happen(For example someone freeing themselves instantly from their cuffs, or possess an item there is no way for them to posess)
  • Have a witness

This list is not exhaustive. Space law simply requires reasonable suspicion. Something that a reasonable person could witness and suspect that someone may be implemented.

Do not hold them for an unreasonable duration just because you believe they have an implant.

A confession like the one you stated would itself be an offense worthy of brig time which you can use to unimplant them. You cannot hold them in the brig forever however.
