Could we reduce the amount of mail cargo gets?

It’s just so… much… mail. It takes one or two people working on it full time, and there’s usually still a pile of mail that either can’t be picked up, or isn’t. The abundance of it makes it not really a priority for recipients, or cargo, as if it takes over a minute to deliver, it becomes not worth it. I also wouldn’t mind an increase in the amount cargo is paid, if the volume of mail is reduced.

Lazy cargo techs…

You came out of your 5 month retirement for this? /s lol

anyways, it really just does not give you much time to pursue whoever when you have 5 more packages coming in 3 minutes. There ends up being a huge stockpile in cargo, and it looks dumb.

also half the cargo techs don’t know what the blue trash cans do. (deliver things to departments, if you’re wondering. yes you, Gary.)

You dont have to mail them out, folks can come ask “is there mail for me” or you join put it somewhere folks can see, or just take it when you go out to drop bounty tickets like if you need prison uniforms take sec mail over. i wouldn’t stress too much on it. though being a mail lady sounds like fun so i might give it a try.

There is no downside for undelivered mail, unlike Goob’s version.
imo there should be as much mail as possible without making it dangerous for the server.
There was an issue with cargo getting literally over 200 letters and packages recently (the entire station came by to help pull it out of cargo), but it got patched.

If there’s mail chutes, use them to send it to their department. If not, either take it there if there’s a pile building or just keep it separate and let folks come find it.

I say we write a mod that SEXTUPLES the amount of mail that the station receives while @geuber is in the cargo department. JK :3

But looking at it from outside the cargo perspective, I sometimes receive 1-3 pieces of mail a shift, sometimes I receive none. If mail IS reduced, I say if we do choose to reduce mail, we focus on reducing junk mail. As it feels really nice to get a cake in the mail or an advanced first aid kit.

(BUT FOR REAL WHO KEEPS SENDING ME CAKE THAT I CAN’T EAT CAUSE IM A LIZZARD? THATS JUST RUDE!)

Was Chemist one round and my buddy chemist was a moth. They got 2 cakes they couldnt eat.
Hell, I played a round with a lizard as a buddy chemist and ended up trading a juju for their popcorn.

wait, what’s a juju? I only know of the one in hypixel skyblock

I prefer to set up racks or lockers outside of cargo and just sort the mail into departments. People can come get them on their own.

Y’all think it would be funny if there was a (ridiculously small) chance that someone gets mailed a live grenade that blows up when they open it? OOOO OR MAYBE THAT HAPPENS WITH AN EMAGGED MAIL TELEPORTER

YES I agree

Pipe bomb delivery due to mail emag is peak lol.
But it does make me worry that people will be even more allergic to mail than they already are.

stupid idea would be come kind of “chamelion package/letter” that explodes when opened.

Thinking on it a dedicated mail person role would be neat as well that just handles all the deliveries and mail.

cargo only really needs 2 techies. (front desk, and back desk/ATS) or 1 if the QM is maanning the front. the other (2-3) techies can deliver mail.

the mail is an ok amount, though some departments don’t always open their mail, I’d say making mailman/courier a separate role wouldn’t be a bad shout, give them a cart to carry letters/packages to make life a little easier, maybe a sorting pile so you can organize them a little better prior to distribution, maybe even give each department slightly different loot pools to incentivize opening them.

How about you don’t receive mail if you aren’t wearing suit sensors set to coordinate, and cargo gets a HUD that adds a pinpointer component to a given piece of mail?
