Events leading to the ban

I joined after the round had started as QM, first thing I see in radio chatter is someone mildly breaking RP to lecture someone else (who I did not see the message of) about not being homophobic. Being a little annoyed at it, I decide I can use that round to play a grumpy, somewhat-bigotted, out of touch QM Boss role and made a comment in support of whoever made whatever supposedly homophobic comment, told them they were loved and to not listen to a “filthy Vox” (the character had a Vox-like name, I never saw or interacted with them besides the single comment).
As I’m making my way to Cargo, I had a something I had to take care of IRL so I run to QM’s office, lock up and go SSD while I take care of it.
When I get back, I see the message from the admin TurboTracker “Care to explain that comment.” with no context. Because I had been doing something other things and talking to other people since making that comment, I asked the admin “which one?”. After their second message to me and remembering the message I put in radio, It was clear that this admin had already decided that I’m going to be banned unless I grovel to them.

Reason the ban should be removed

There is nothing in the rules that I can find anywhere online (including the forums) about “speciesism”. That seems like something that would be handled in-game and in-roleplay by Captain’s orders of being forced to take sensitivity training under threat of being demoted or fired.
It was a single comment, in character and it was not overtly harsh.
Admin chose to immediately give attitude and dance around the topic instead of a direct “Speciesism is against the rules.” - which I’m totally fine with and the only thing I would have typed back would be ‘Alright, sorry. Won’t happen again’
I can guess that the admin took personal issue with my defence of a character’s comment, which the logs can prove that I never saw, and came up with something on the spot to ban me.
If I’m allowed back, I won’t be doing any more “speciesist” roleplay, regardless of whether it’s actually a rule or not.

Thank you for your consideration.

Interesting, You see I found that part of the rules very easily and quickly.

Going to leave this here for you while I get through dealing with these appeals.
If you wish to update your appeal, I suggest you do so soon, as I will begin processing this within the next few days.

This appeal was placed to a vote amongst the administration team.

The result of this vote was to Deny the appeal and place a requirement for a voucher for future appeals to be considered.

Some of the reasoning behind this is as follows.

  • Enthusiastically roleplaying a “space racist” is a concerning trait.
  • Shown blatant disregard for our rules.
  • shown absolutey no remorse for your actions.

For these reasons, the admin team has decided to upgrade this ban to a voucher ban. You may appeal your ban, but only at least 6 months from now, and only with a voucher of good behavior from another SS13/SS14 server.

A voucher of good behavior should be obtained from a well-known or decently active SS13/SS14 server. If it is a mainstream server, we recommend using that server’s admin-help to ask for a voucher from one of the administrators explaining that you are trying to appeal a ban on SS14’s Wizard’s Den and want to show you have been a problem-free player during your playtime on the server. A voucher should be indicative of at least a few months of play.
