Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Wizard’s Den servers, or any SS13 experience? I also play on Goob Station and have been on that server off and on.
Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)? Admin for Goob Station - Left due to an opportunity I could not pass up. I can post my status as Staff Alumni if necessary.
Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers? Sadly, Yes I have been. It was from Wizden. I had made a lapse in judgement due to your Aprils fools event and wrongfully thought that I could self antag with no repercussions. I was then contacted by I think TurboTracker who then issued a ban of which I have successfully appealed. I have kept my nose clean since and have used that lesson to ensure that I never make such a lapse of judgement again.
What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin? My primary interest as an Admin is to make sure that rules are followed. We have them for a reason and if they aren’t followed, The game isn’t fun.
Another interest is doing little things to shake up the round, Depending on how the round is progressing. A talking tree here, Perhaps a quirky little thing there. Nothing that will completely derail the round but make people laugh and enjoy themselves and perhaps inspire them to play the game a little different than they are used to and open up a new way to enjoy the game.
What are you least interested in doing as an admin? Events. I am a firm believer that players make their own fun and as Admins, We should allow them to do so. Im not against events but I don’t feel like I would be as good of contributor as some others would be.
Detail Questions
What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?
Game Admins serve a vital role on servers. They are the upholders of rules and keepers of law and order. They make sure everyone is following the rules and reminding troublesome players that their actions are inappropriate and when needed, removal of detrimental players.
Game Admins also serve as ambassadors to Wizden. They represent the best of what Wizden can be and should be a reflection of the values that Wizden has put out.
Lastly, Game Admins serve a role as a person who can be helpful. Should a new player be confused and need a helping hand, Or a veteran is having a problem, Game Admins should be able to help out in a variety of situations.
Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?
I want to be an Administrator because I want to give back to a game that has given me a lot of joy and fun. I want to help this server succeed and grow through my passion for this game.
I want to be an Administrator because I feel like its where I can be of most use. I want to make sure that rounds remain fun and that players feel like we have their best interests at heart.
How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?
Well, Salamander is doing pretty good with its Roleplay. Nothing too terrible or out of the ordinary is occuring. Leviathan and Lizard… Well its just that. Its low roleplay and expectations are fairly low but for the most part, People do stay in character. So all in all, Its doing not too bad.
Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?
Being kind. I have had some amazing Admins over the course of time I’ve played. They were kind, helpful and understanding and the most important thing, They listened. That, I think is the biggest positive impact. Being kind, Empathetic and listen to the issue instead of just shutting them down immediately.
Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?
I mean, I’ve had some choice encounters with some unsavoury characters that get snarky in LOOC, But thats just people being people that take things too seriously. Obviously it depends on what is said at the time. If I saw it, I would remind the offending player that we are all real people playing this and not everyone plays like you. I would then monitor their response and act accordingly.
Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?
Many good experiences. Lots of fun encounters with a lot of the players. Game Admins? Well it sounds funny to say, But the interaction again with TurboTracker and my ban. It was positive if that makes any sense really. They didn’t snark at me, They let me speak and then they laid out the terms and conditions and the punishment involved. No drama nor was there any anger. (That I percieved.)
Scenario Questions
Scenario 1
It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.
I would remind them that it is not up to me to do something “Funny” and that the players themselves have to make things happen. I would encourage them to take a ghost role and to make up fun within that role as long as it was within the rules of the server.
Scenario 2
This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why.
Well this one is definitely a more complicated one.
So Number one is why the Coup? Has the Captain performed bad enough to the point of warranting their removal from command? I would definitely be reviewing the Captains actions and seeing exactly what they have been up to. I would also Ahelp the HoS and the HoP to get their spin on the situation and then make a decision as to whether I should step in or allow the Coup to proceed, As long as it remains within the rules. That being said, If the Captain is found to be not doing their job as described, I would be remarking on their account and if its a multiple time offence, consider job bans after discussing with other Admins.
Second is the Clown. I would Ahelp the clown and ask why they have stolen the saber as a non-antag. I would listen to what they have to say and then from there, More than likely, I would ask them to surrender the saber. If they do, I would remind them that even if it was a prank, Its still not appropriate as it could cause round issues. If they don’t I would consult other Admins but more than likely, remove the Sabre and issue a warning to the clown for non compliance.
Third is the QM. In this instance, They’ve really not done much wrong. They basically were told “Hey, Clown with sword trying to kill me and I’m wanted by HoS and HoP.” and followed the Captains orders.
Scenario 3
You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available.
I would be trying to get more information from the second Admin like reasoning behind the indefinite ban. I would then refer to my discussion with the first Admin who noted that this situation is more appropriate of a Temp Ban. I would then go with the Temp Ban as noted from the discussion with the first admin and once a Headmin became available, i would discuss the issue and gain further clarification and if further action is required, go from there.
