Discord #bugs-feedback is now #bug-reports

The #bugs-feedback channel from the SS14 Discord server is now #bug-reports. To allow feedback to be given in a way that it can be more useful, we now have Feedback and Feature Requests. These forums use your existing SS14 account to log in, so if you play SS14 then you probably already have an account.

Discord is not an ideal place for long discussions, including feedback. The way that Discord presents threads would often cause feedback posts to not really get anywhere.

  • Discussions would loop as new people joined and missed messages that were posted just minutes earlier, even if they were pinned.
  • Topics would derail and Discord’s moderation tools don’t allow for messages to be moved or easily mass deleted.
  • When someone wanted to review what people had said in a thread, their only option would be to scroll all the way to the top manually, or hope that someone pinned an early message, then read through every message to the bottom.
  • Threads themselves would get lost beneath threads that were more active, which doesn’t really mean that the feedback is any better, just that people have more to say about it. 100 people could :thistbh: a feedback thread, but that thread would be buried beneath ones where 10 people decided to share their opinion about why they don’t agree with the feedback.

Using Feedback or Feature Requests, topics can be sorted by things like reactions on the main post, off topic posts can be moved into a new topic or deleted by moderators, and it’s easy to get to the start of a topic. Also, things are designed more for longer discussions that multiple people can come in and out of than the short real time discussions Discord is made for.

I forgot to include this in my main announcement, but existing feedback threads on Discord will remain open. Please stay on topic in them
