Basically, I’m considering making a somewhat gimmicky character for MRP that is some sort of intergalactic grandmaster of chess. The problem is, I am not good at chess. If I use a chess engine to simulate my character being insanely good at chess, would that count as ‘using an external program to gain an advantage’? I presume it would be fine if it were just a friendly game with no stakes, but what if we were to place bets on who wins or something?
Current rules require that we prohibit any external program which could grant you an advantage in game. While being good at chess is far from being an important gameplay mechanic in game, using a chess engine would still count as an advantage as such this would fall under this rule. However, if it is just going to be a small gimmick that will improve the round you can try to request special permission from online admins through an ahelp.
Being super good at chess as a character gimmick would be funny but utilizing a chess engine to do so would probably be considered cheating by most users. It may be permissible as a one off gimmick but not something you should do regularly or without permission.
