"Don't be a dick"

I think there needs to be something added/included in this rule about tampering with station signs (specifically, the ones that point out the direction of departments). It’s directly targeting people who are new or don’t process directional information well. It doesn’t really serve as a funny or antagonistic action I think and should be added to the rule I quote at the end of this post.

Is this a good suggestion for a rules re-write? I think it could also be applied to overuse of the door painters. I don’t see how they serve any purpose but to confuse people who don’t play the game all the time. Obviously, some use of them is fun and entertaining. But when it’s applied to the entire station, it goes beyond funny and enters into some light bullying.

The rule currently states:

You are playing a multiplayer game with up to 100+ other people who also want to enjoy the game; be considerate that you are typically interacting with other players.  Damaging or disrupting the normal function of Arrivals and the Arrivals Shuttle is strictly forbidden. Do not attack people or damage arrivals. You will get banned.

  1. The arrivals station and the arrivals shuttle are off-limits to antagonistic activity or damage (even to antagonists). You have no reason to attack freshly spawned people nor damage the area so they have no hope of safely getting to the station.
  2. Do not intentionally make other players’ lives hell for your own amusement. Starting small IC conflicts or disputes are fine, but going out of your way to antagonize specific players or departments all round for no reason other than liking the reaction they make is unacceptable.

Unless this is continually and purposefully done multiple rounds in a row by the same person I would call this an IC issue that can be handled via security. That rule is much broader in scope then extremely minor vandalism of signs and default airlock paint schemes.

That’s fair. I just know from experience that sec won’t do anything about it. None of them are new and most of them dont’ remember what it was like. There is a serious lack of empathy. But your servers, your rules. Just thought I’d make the suggestion.
