Yeah i believe at having to scan multiple doors for find the culprit with some kind of minigame would make logs way less op and more entretaining without having to remove it for crew.
I asked because I’m reminded a lot of Shadows of Doubt, and particularly a mod for it that addresses a very similar problem where identifying suspects is too easy because you only need one fingerprint and the knowledge of whom that print belongs to. The mod introduces complexity by changing the fingerprints for every citizen (which by default just counts up alphabetically so the first person you fingerprint is A, second is B, so on) into five letter combinations for every citizen by default and obfuscates some random letters on each print.
So in the vanilla game you only need one print from a crime scene, and the knowledge of who that print belongs to, do be 100% sure of your suspect. With the mod a single print might give you ABC-- and you’d need to collect more prints to get a full picture, another print might say -B-DE and the citizens full print would be ABCDE.
It’s a really great change that not only means you need to collect more than one print to be sure of your suspects at a crime scene but also allows for more doubt in identification because of the partial prints. I’m not sure how, or if at all, something like this could be implemented into SS14 for door logs, fingerprints, DNA, or whatever else detectives investigate, but it was my main inspiration in asking if you thought needing to get more than one scan would be beneficial to the gameplay here.
Apologies if going off on a huge idea gay tangent about a mod for a totally different game is not a meaningful contribution, I just felt like this point of inspiration could really help if it can be figured out how to get do something like it for SS14.
