EEASAS Admin Application vol. 3

**Just going to start off by saying that i absolutely love this game. SS13/14 is what i only play aside from the usual steam game and I’m probably never quitting it. That being said, I’m VERY saddened about the closure of my trial since i was ACTUALLY putting some effort into it. Also gonna state that i don’t know why it would be closed due to the reasons that have been said considering i went out and typed an entire Admin Application and actually got it approved. I would like a re-trial to see if i can make up for my mistakes and improve my admin knowledge with the game.

In-game Username:**
EEASAS
Discord username: tritium0
Characters you play: Corbin Raub

On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week: Depends, 6-12

Days you are available to admin on: Afternoon and at night, more active on weekends.

How old are you? 20

Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Wizard’s Den servers, or any SS13 experience? Absolutely. Lots of SS13 experience, about 460 hours

Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)?
SS14 experience, from my trial that had failed. Probably 2 months of admin experience.

Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers?
No.

Admins have the ability to perform various tasks which are not available to the average player. An incomplete list of these tasks is: in-game rule enforcement, in-game events, ban appeals, and out-of-game rule enforcement through things like replay/log reviews in response to player reports. With these, and any other tasks you’re aware of in mind, answer the following two questions.

What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin?
Rule enforcement, reports, and also sprinkling a bit of fun into the game occasionally.
I can also help other admins in mapping experience, as i also have mapping experience in both SS14 and SS13.
I’m also gonna hold off on the events since that can lead to bad things happening, such as player insatisfaction and etc.

What are you least interested in doing as an admin?
Make the game unpleasant for everyone else, such as incorrect/unfair bans and notes, and ruining the game flow with events that people don’t like,
such as random ERT(also deathsquad and cbrn), spawning random items everywhere and modifying things heavily

_ Answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you’d approach adminning. _

What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?
Enforce the rules, check on rule updates, handling ban appeals and events
They can also fix the game if it is needed, like if Arrivals/Cryo is blown up or overloaded AME too soon into the round.

Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?
I want to become an administrator because i love the game. I have 360 hours on Steam(could be wrong) and 460 on SS13. That being said, i wish to complete my previous trial for reasons like not being accustomed with the tools(Grafana, note system), and friendly admins who have helped me in the right direction before.

How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?
I think it is fine.

Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?
Running a large, successful event that makes the playerbase happy. Running a event with other admins can also strengthen the relationships between the admin team and thus, make the admin experience better.

Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?
No.

Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?
Yes, Making chemicals together with a chemist is a fun thing i like to do sometimes when I’m playing the game. Doing large tasks like a good haul on Salvage or setting up a tritium/frezon farm are also some of my recalled memories.

The following are scenarios, respond with how you would handle each as an administrator. Respond with the assumption that you are an administrator with full access to the admin tools, and that you have all the knowledge needed to use these tools. Scenarios intentionally leave out information so that you can describe how different details would affect your response. Respond in detail, explain the reasons behind decisions you make and describe any assumptions you are making. When you need to make an assumption, it is preferred for you to describe how different assumptions would affect your actions.

It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.
I would just do nothing, as it’s too early into the round and doing something like that would not give the crew time to respond to threats.

This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why.
Head of Security: Investigate if they really decided, and ask why they have decided to do that. If the answer is something logical like “The captain is killing station pets because he doesn’t like them” then i would investigate logs and AHelp the captain if they really killed anyone. If the captain admits to killing anyone, proceed to warning and noting.
If the answer is something non logical like “I don’t like the captain” then i would still AHelp the Captain to ask what they’re doing to be overthrown. If the captain responds with something logical and correct, proceed to the final step, warning and noting the HoS.

Captain: Ask what they are doing to be overthrown. If the captain has done nothing wrong based on HoS’s response and logs, proceed to tell them that you will look into it.
If the thing that the Captain has done is bad enough to warrant a note/ban, warn and apply note/ban.

Head of Personnel: Ask if they are siding with the HoS to overthrow the Captain. If the answer is no, and it is incorrect, look into logs to see if they spoke with the HoS about this. If they did, tell the HoP about the logs. If their answer is still no and the logs are correct, proceed to warning/noting
If the answer is yes, and it is correct, ask them why they are siding to overthrow the Captain. If it is yet another not logical answer, proceed to warning/noting.
If it is a logical answer, tell them that the issue is solved.

You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available.
I would check the rules/ban policy and calculate from there to see what should be applied. Ask other admins to see what they respond and add that to the calculation. If this indefinite ban is not allowed by the ban policy, show to the other admin about it. If they correct their answer, go back to the ahelp and continue it. If they insist, get the Head Admin when one is available.

It’s currently 1:32 AM so i will correct this later if anything is wrong.

It gives me an error when i try to edit, so i will add this into the overthrowing scenario

Clown: Use strip menu with Aghost and check their backpack if they really have the sabre. If they do, ahelp the clown about this and tell them to return it. If they don’t return it, proceed to warning/note. If they do, close the ahelp.

Quartermaster: Do nothing as they have no side in this scenario and are just inside their own property, the Cargo Shuttle.

i also didnt notice it was hours per week and not per days, 26-40 hours a week but it depends largely

Thank you for applying. We’ve decided to not accept this application, but you’re free to apply again in the future.
