What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin? Most of all: WHITELIST REQUESTS!!! I want to help bring people to MRP
After that it’s: In-game events, ingame rule-enforcement for Vulture (primarily OOC issues like naming your character “Slim Shady” or something like that)

What are you least interested in doing as an admin? Ban appeals, dealing with space law

Detail Questions

What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?

It may seem like a basic answer, but I genuinely think it’s to make sure everyone has their fun. In some rounds in the past, I’ve had some bad interactions that left me feeling empty and angry. Banning problematic players - it makes the game experience better for whoever had the problems with that player. I would feel great if I never had to see a person who keeps bothering me again. And that’s what game admins do - they make the game fun to play.

Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?

I want to be able to moderate! I often play on Vulture, and whenever I go to ahelp something, there’s a lingering voice that wonders if anyone is even listening. If I become an admin, I can ensure that other players won’t hear that voice, which encourages them to ahelp more.

How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?

It’s not necessarily declining, but when there’s more people, the less people seem to care. Honest-to-god, I was on Salamander, and at the arrivals terminal, there was a lizard who was punching everything randomly. I said in LOOC, “hey man thats pretty LRP” and the person replied “well, it was pretty LRP last round too, so”. That isn’t a good look for the server, and if I was a new player to MRP, I would’ve not played MRP again.

Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?

Admin events. While there shouldn’t be admin events every round for everyone, there is definitely a positive RP shift.

Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?

Once I joined as a ghost while Liltenhead was streaming and I joked that I was streamsniping. the admin there had given me a no-warning perma after the round ended and i had to appeal. If I was in that admin’s shoes, I would at least give the person a chance to argue their case.

Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?

Several, too many for me to recall a single one. If I had to say, all of the times where an admin had contacted ME to do an admin event were amazing and an amazing experience.

Scenario Questions

Scenario 1

It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.

I’d honestly just say no. While I’ve already stated my support for more admin events, there is a limit. Plus, “do something funny” is really vague. If they’re still going after traitors have been selected, I’d put two clowns in the admin arena, make them ghost roles, and let them run around until they tire themself out.

Scenario 2

This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why.

For the HoS, I’d ask why they are couping the captain, and remind them of the rules of command depending on their response.
For the HoP, I’d tell them that they are not a sec role, and they should focus more on helping the crew than harming the captain.
For the captain, I’d ask for his side of the story, and what he might have done differently.
For the quartermaster, I’d ask him things relevant to what the HoS and Captain say they experienced to cross reference
for the clown I’d ask him to not kill the captain as a nonantag, because this is a bit far from entertaining the crew, and ask him to return the sabre, and return to his role.

This situation obviously depends on a lot of in-round factors as well, and I may act differently because while I’m able to prepare for this question and immediately have all the information, in game, for example, it could play out like me noticing the captain hiding, asking him why, and then going backwards from there. So it’s a difficult issue. But assuming I have all this information already, I would do the above courses of action.

Scenario 3

You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available.

I’d first follow up with the first punishment from the admin, making sure to notify the player of why they’re being temporarily banned, then contact a headmin over discord and tell them that they did this, and wait for a reply, even if not immediate. In the meantime, I’d ask the indef admin why they think it should be a perma, and I would also take a lot of notes during this for showing the headmin. (sorry, i accidentally posted unfinished but its fixed now)
