Those were the kind of lofty promises O’Leary had heard throughout all his life. And they instilled something within him.
And that’s why he grew up wanting more than anything in his life to be an officer of the law in his home. One day, HE would be the one protecting and serving.
…it didn’t work out that way. He took it for granted that that would surely be his path in life. But he failed his entrance exam to the academy. It wasn’t meant to be.
He didn’t know what to do himself. He had half a mind to go on a booze trip. Or to consign himself to retail for the rest of his existence.
And that’s… when he saw it. A job posting. For a security officer on one of those fancy Nanotrasen space stations.
And now, at his new post… it’s definitely one way to protect and serve.
