Ban reason:You, or another user of this computer or connection, are banned from playing here. The ban reason is: "RDM : fed a death pill to a random person in evac that would only kill them after the round ended Length of ban:24 hour Ban Issue: I did what I was banned for, but the ban is unreasonably harsh
Events leading to the ban
I fed a pill to someone on the evac shuttle timed to metabolize after round ended. The effects started after round end and crit them after round end. There was no harm done during the round. I was pulled aside for it and explained this to the admin, but they were adamant it was RDM despite acknowledging no harm came to them during the round. They also claimed I was “argumentative” simply for responding instead of just taking the unjust ban.
Reason the ban should be removed
This an LRP server with EORG permitted. I did not “RDM” during the round. No harm came to their character until after the round had ended. It affected their round in no way whatsoever. It’s no different to shooting them after round ends. The admin was very clearly overstepping their authority and looking to escalate before they even spoke to me. They also disparaged my character in the ban reasoning by claiming my responses were “argumentative” when I was speaking perfectly reasonably. It is completely unbecoming of an admin to ask for an explanation and then reframe the calm explanation as “argumentative”. It’s just wrong and an indictment on their character, a clear showing they do not have the temperament to be in that position of power. I stand by my stance that what I did was in the confines of the rules and is not that serious. At most, if this is indeed a rulebreak (which I contest), it should warrant warning at most because I did not grief their round or have any effect on it in any way. They only started feeling the effects of the pill after round ended, by design, because I was not trying to grief someone if they were syndi/thief during round because I was not actively trying to break rules.
EORG, and any activities leading up to and causing EORG is specifically only permitted after the round has ended. Feeding someone a poison pill before the round end screen has shown up is not EORG, it is just G, irrespective of when the pills effects kick in (and, for that matter, making death pills specifically to be used as part of EORG is also against the rules). This is a roleplaying game, and even on LRP you are expected to play a vaguely normal person, and normal people do not randomly forcefeed a colleague a deathpill when on the bus back from work.
To be clear, a significant factor causing the banning admin to choose to ban and not place a warning was that this method is actively attempting to circumvent our EORG rules. Keep all EORG related activity for after the round has actually ended.
Please understand, I was not actively trying to circumvent EORG rules. That implies I had nefarious intent going in and knew I was rulebreaking, which I didn’t. I was simply just curious as to the full effect of the pill as I had not come across fish toxin before, and figured there’s no harm in testing if it doesn’t metabolize till EOR. I believed at the time I was acting fully in the rules. I didn’t go into it thinking “I’m skirting the rules here”. It’s just an honest mistake and a simple warning would have sufficed. A ban is entirely unnecessary. This is my first time being pulled up by an admin ever, and I’ve been playing since October.
Well thats not entirely true, is it. I have logs of you force feeding people carpotoxin pills (named the same thing each time) across two seperate rounds, one being the one you were banned for. Additionally, you yourself said in your ahelp that this and similar situations have happened before, and it wasnt just an idle curiosity on your part.
As has been previously stated, all EORG must take place after the round has actually ended, not when you think it is basically fine to do so.
