GenPop so far has been an awesome idea. However, the one glaring issue I’ve seen so far in it’s implementation is that most GenPop mappings take away every single cell in favor of GenPop. We need at least a single cell to use for solitary confinement, or to use as a holding cell, or just as a place where prisoners can be separated if need be.
If I’m playing as the Ward, and I have 2 prisoners who beat each other up in GenPop constantly, I shouldn’t have to babysit them both with cuffs on. A single cell that could be used to separate would be the best solution. If Ward suspects that 2 prisoners are colluding on a plan to escape, there should be a place where they can be held where they can no longer collude.
If an Officer brings someone in, but we expect there may be a mixup and we want to clear things up before committing to doing the whole prisoner locker thing, there needs to be a secure place they can be held. This holding cell would exist so that we don’t have concerns of the person running away, or the random Tider who tailgates into Sec stealing their items off the ground.
I have other minor grievances with GenPop, but this is the biggest issue with the concept in my mind. Further discussion welcomed!
I had a game where a tider WOULD NOT STOP throwing drinks in front of sec. After the 3rd repeat of the crime, I put him in perma. Once he got in there, he started attacking sec officers. I HAD NO SINGLE CELL TO PUT HIM IN. At that point I was fed up with the guy, told the warden and made it HIS problem. A way to mitigate this, would be to alter the electropacks so that they can’t be taken off by anyone with a prison id, or no id. Maybe require maints access to take it off.
But I do agree, genpop maps need at least 1 segregation cell for unruly prisoners.
100% agreed, the lack of a solitary cell is so painful. No good way to isolate problematic prisoners, nowhere to put people while you get approval for execution. If someone manages to break a window you have to babysit them in cuffs while you fix it.
I’m not sure how this update went through like this, but as a warden main that mostly plays lizard which is full of tiders, it’s not great. Personally I think genpop should be a luxury for cooperative people to hang out in while they serve their time. And if they can’t control themselves they get thrown in a cell.
On another note, the layouts for the genpop brigs are very inconsistent. Some don’t have lockdown shutters when they clearly should, and others have very questionable design choices, like iirc one just has a random unreinforced window and an unshocked grille in the bathroom that also conveniently leads to maints for some reason?
The electro packs should totally need security access or something to take off too, especially now that there’s no solitary cell.
“GenPop” is not good for security, it’s good for shitters and tiders to waste even more security time as now they can’t get separated. Can’t wait for Liam, Luna, Floors or whatever flavour of the day tider is online to abuse it.
