Gorlex chem-lasers

Currently antags are missing lasers, so there is no push to use laser shields or reflective vests, and whenever warops is called the crew builds a thousand reinforced windows and wins a vast majority of the time.
Just giving antags the same lasers would be boring, so I wanted to go with something with a different theme, that being chemical lasers that require a plasma gas fuel source and battery.

I’ve done as much as is possible in yaml, but need some real code, but that’s kinda where my skills end. So I guess this is kind of a call for help, if anyone is willing to help me with making a simple component to get this working properly I would absolutely really appreciate assistance.

Currently it’s working off a slightly sus use of the pneumatic cannon component, it requires battery and gastank, but i can’t extend that to only allowing plasma gas currently.

Also ideas and feedback would be appreciated.

I’ve put in a request for maintainer approval because guns require that.

Looking at it from lore perspective(ss13). Majority of syndicate “Advanced” weapons are made by Cyber-Sun. Which have certain esthetic.

If lasers require both specific advance gas like tritium or frezon and battery to function. It does follow Cyber-Sun technology esthetic.
While more traditional kinetic arms are smuggled by Waffle Co.

Plasma gas works too. But i think it should be a tiny bit weaker then NT laser riffle. And a bit stronger with trit\freon. Plus add those tanks to uplink with different prices

Could also be an agent weapon, but he needs to work a bit to make it working

So I would say Amazing job on this idea.

Also. People may not believe this. But Cybersun Incorporated special color (in their OG old logo and suits) is actually orange. Like their main uniform color is blue, but accent\line color is orange

P.S. Also Cyber-Sun making this riffles for Gorlex mercs. Just glad to see another space station lore nerd

The branch is actually still called cybersun-chem-lasers as that was originally the direction I was going, but I changed my mind and decided to switch it up to gorlex as I thought going for a dirtier (not in that way) aesthetic would be more interesting and fits gorlex better than cybersun. Also cybersun gets lots more love than gorlex. I was thinking maybe it could vent a small amount of toxic byproduct on each shot to hammer in the dangerous dirty illegal weapon theme.

Chemical lasers are a real world thing and require less electricity to produce a stronger laser, I think they have even been trialled in several military applications.

I do like the idea of variant gasses too, it might be possible to have them provide different damage types based on gas used and if done right could allow for mixing gases to either preference, or just to scrounge weaker gases if the situation is dire. I could imagine nukies rocking up in Atmos just to say “holy fuck, they have freezon” then vent their plasma and proceed to fill up on the rare stuff.
