Grey Tide/Passengers too disruptive on Lizard?

They are a great source of meat. Like a bartender that touches my animal without permission, they even drop cool glasses that is your to take

I do think there is some rampant power gaming and greytide problems on Lizard, like folks rushing engineering demanding insuls that aren’t in the tool room for a reason. Given your an intern’s intern with no specific heading though, I do think have a basic kit of semi handy things is reasonable, cause you never know what you might get called to help with.

A wrench, Screwdriver and crowbar are not only a meta trio that can get you into a ton of places in a pinch, but they’re super common in mundane tasks, like helping medbay tear down the tables they loath oh so much. Wire cutters would be a bit heavy, but that also checks grils if the window has any. This also gives you a decent self defense tool for Green, and the ability to get the resoures to escalate on Blue or Red with some maint diving and ingenuity.

Basic Example: Tear down some wooden features or barricades, break a window for a shard to make a bat. Tear down some tables or a crate for steel and use the starting wire in tools for a buckler. You also have small powercells for a stun prod in Tools.

But usualyl we just get goblins squabbling over ever last insu and welding mask trying to do who knows what self antag. (or so it feels)

As an admin, tiding usually has a pretty clear line between harmless pranks and actually malicious.

Last time I played on Lizard for example one of the passengers ended up getting a Lecter out of the armory somehow and ended up trying to hire themselves out as a mercenary.

Would it be extremely disruptive? 100%. Did they actually self antag to get the gun? No. The HoS handed out guns to the crew because of several ninjas and a Dragon.

A passenger having tools isn’t very disruptive unless they actually use those tools to steal essential things, like breaking into engi.

Again, being subordinate does not mean you have a job. It just means they do not have autorithy over anyone. And insubordination is not a rule break. Just a space law break.

The reason why a doctor cannot go around making spears or stealing multitools is because their job is not to fight or hack. It is to heal. A doctor insubordinating by not doing their job is a rule break because they are not doing their job, not because of the unsubordination necessarily.

Stealing a gun as a passenger (because the armory was blown open or an officer dropped theirs and walked away) is not disruptive because there are plenty more (altho you still become valid for it, ofc) so it is allowed if you do not use it to break other rules like attacking crew. Stealing the HoP’s ID or taking an remote and bolting open a department can hinder jobs greatly and as such counts as self antag (you both break server rules AND become valid).

Breaking space law is not a rule break unless it is a command or sec role.
So since passengers have no duties that tell them what they should be doing nor high standards for space law. They become able to do whatever they want.

As a separate point. I want to add that most of the self antag i see is from everyone BUT passengers.
Passengers usually do not even have the gear to self antag that hard. But lately i have seen so many non-newbie roles directly breaking server rules that i have to actively avoid ahelping to not seem like i am abusing the system (i keep it to 1 ahelp per every other round).

  • Doctors taking limited medical supplies and running off to find people to heal (even if med is already overcrowded with patients).
  • Engineers setting up tesla and not even looking at it again.
  • Cargo abandoning the station to gamble with money they sourced FROM the station.
  • Salvage may as well be leaving to gamble, as it would mean they at least are helping the station instead of playing space adventure.
  • And do not even get me started on security.

I am not against bending the rules a bit to keep stuff fun. But blaming this on passengers seems like a deflection at best. They are a very small fraction of the pop of most rounds.

i would like to remind how easly captain shoot at unarmed person to death just because they trepassed into bridge and realize they are unrevivable and get away with it because “they are captain”, i really don t like sec elitism and i see it alot unfortunatley

(for the ones don t know, thats shooting at unarmed person, its murder and because he shot to death and unrevivable probably prevention of revival too whic is perma / capital offance)

The game has kind of accepted greytiding as a culture because of how hard it is to enforce. The best way to get rid of greys is to ask the captain for a “stand your ground law”

you already can punch someone breaking in, but escalation obviously applies

IME, PoR is usually only applied when the criminal could’ve reasonably known their actions would prevent revival. Killing someone who’s unrevivable - without knowing they’re unrevivable - is usually just charged as murder, because while revival was prevented… how were they supposed to know?

i treat everyone as if they are all unrevivable, so it might be just me, i main sec so i used to guarantee that i don t round remove somone and go as far as ripping their jumpsuit just so i can stop their bleed.
