Discord username:  Gtheglorious
Characters you play:  Rebecca Watson

On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week:  20 (1-2 rounds per day) though it may be much higher as I’m only taking light college courses.

Days you are available to admin on:  Any

How old are you?  21

Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Wizard’s Den servers, or any SS13 experience?  I have on other SS14 servers off and on, though I mostly play Wizards Den now. I used to play on nyano for a time until that whole situation happened. I play mining station, frontier, and ekrixi.

Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)? I’ve spent the last 9 months as a server administrator/moderator for a SMP for the create Minecraft mod. During those months I’ve handled applications, questionnaires, reports, and in game moderation. You can contact YouTubers Polart or Skeej on discord or check their streams/videos as I appear on them as my role.

Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers?  I’m pretty sure I’ve been auto temp banned for 20 minutes for spamming reconnect. I also have been a shitter before in my first month playing the game.

Admins have the ability to perform various tasks which are not available to the average player. An incomplete list of these tasks is: in-game rule enforcement, in-game events, ban appeals, and out-of-game rule enforcement through things like replay/log reviews in response to player reports. With these, and any other tasks you’re aware of in mind, answer the following two questions.

What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin?  I see myself as a justice motivated person and I just can’t stand it when I see self antagonist behavior and just general NRP and No respect given to any crew members in the Wizards Den LRP servers. I am primarily interested in the investigation process and find it enjoyable to comb through replays to find out what actually happened in search for the truth, as I do so occasionally with particularly chaotic or fun shifts. I am also interested in responding to AHELP messages and help provide a sense of justice and closure to people left hanging. I am also interested in moderating LRP as with the introduction of the new vulture server the need more more LRP moderators is more than ever.

What are you least interested in doing as an admin?  I am least interested in causing or engaging in arguments in ahelp or in discord as it is not productive and doesn’t help anyone. A thing that an admin should actually do that I would be less interested in is that I would be actually playing the game less (as a normal player) and my view on the game would be twisted through a admin/moderator lens like some sort of dark and twisted truth.

_ Answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you’d approach adminning. _

What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?
The job of the game admins is to make sure the environment for Wizards Den servers is fun and enjoyable to all playing in the discord or in game. This is done by in game moderation by stoping and or banning rule breakers, responding to AHELP messages to help people who are in need, investigating chaotic rounds, responding to ban appeals, and running special rounds.

Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?

Not a day goes by where I wish there were more admins in LRP to stop whatever shittery is currently happening in this shift. I’ve heard sentiment somewhere that LRP is a chore to moderate, and I want to do that! I love the few and far between enjoyable LRP shifts and I want to help make more of them by stopping self-antag and NRPers! I also enjoy helping people whenever possible and would want to do just that in one of my favorite games.

How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?

The LRP servers have a severe problem of being understaffed by admins, and it’s been at a point for a while where most rounds feel like it’s NRP. Just today I’ve had a shift where a scientist refused to interact with me to ask about an artifact I supposedly stole and preferred to just drill a hole into my room to obtain with it rather than interact with sec or I. Nearly every shift I’m in has a moment like this for me, and I bet it happens to most of not all players who would like to light role play in  LRP.

Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?
Generally, responding to Ahelps. The bare minimum “we’re working on it” and/or “it’s been dealt with” provide the greatest relief to anyone making an ahelp about a situation or another player. Helping fix situations like unfair death via broken game mechanics (damn you walls). Helping new players by responding to job questions such as new engineers, scientists, or newkies.

Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?
I called out a syndicate for having a chameleon suit, as they were wearing clothes not available on the station. I was warned as my player should not have known that it was a thing. It felt unfair to me as I wasn’t hunting them as it was a passive notice, especially as they immediately flushed themselves after I spotted them. It has been discussed in the discord that a list of what is and what isn’t known to players (ex, chameleon tech) needs to be added somewhere and I would highly recommend that as at the time of that incident, I didn’t know. Other than that, a lack of response in ahelps is a negative experience to not just only me and I want to help reduce those experiences.

Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?
A Captain was derailing a shift and inadvertently caused multiple deaths including me. At the end of the shift the admin revived me and gave me a rocket launcher to obliterate them. That’s all I remember of that incident and it was great. Another shift were I was given an alternate syndicate objective to start a nar’sie cult. Nothing went right that shift (we all died to a singuloose), but everyone in the cult, including the admin had fun. On a more serious note, any time an admin directly impacts the station for the better is always a great shift for me.

The following are scenarios, respond with how you would handle each as an administrator. Respond with the assumption that you are an administrator with full access to the admin tools, and that you have all the knowledge needed to use these tools. Respond in detail, explain the reasons behind decisions you make and describe any assumptions you are making. When you need to make an assumption, it is preferred for you to describe how differences in the assumption would affect your actions.

It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.
Nothing good would come out of listening to them, I would ignore the pleas to do something funny.

You see a clown using crayon to write on the floor in front of security. The clown writings are negative things about security, like “shitsec”. A secoff tells the clown that they’re being arrested for vandalism, stuns them, and cuffs them. Before the secoff is able to get the clown into the brig, a passenger slips the secoff, causing them to lose their baton, then uses the baton to stun another secoff that comes to help as the clown runs away. The passenger escapes through disposals. Having heard an AOS radio callout, the detective enters maintenance near disposals and shoots the passenger to crit. There are four players in this scenario, the clown, the passenger, the secoff, and the detective.
The clown has done nothing wrong in this scenario, except for the lack of creativity.

The security officer has also not done anything wrong, but they may be perpetuating the idea of shitsec in the clown’s mind. If I had to ahelp them, I would tell them to lower the sentence as what the clown did was not harmful.

If the passenger was not an antagonist they should be warned for interfering in an arrest and attacking an officer. If they were an antagonist, they have done nothing wrong in this scenario. Either or, if the detective leaves the body in maints, I would ask another admin for help on the situation because I think the passenger should’ve had the chance to be revived.

The detective should be warned for using lethals as there are options like disablers and rubber rounds, and if they have previous problems with over escalation, they should be role banned. If not I would make sure they drag the passenger to medbay and remind them that the time the player stays in medbay should count towards their sentence.

You and another admin have been adminning for around an hour. The rate of issues has been easily manageable due to having 2 admins. Neither of you have been talking in admin chat. You are using ahelp to warn a player for breaking a rule when the other admin joins the ahelp and confirms that it is against the rules, but that it’s fine in this case and they can ignore the rule for the rest of the round. You haven’t taken any other admin actions yet, such as applying a ban or writing a note.

I would contact the other admin in admin chat asking about his ruling as I would be curious, if it was a particularly significant rule I would contact a third admin to get a non biased view on the situation. Either way, I would stick to the other admin’s decision until discussion is over with the other two admins to discern a reason why the decision was made. Until then I would spectate the player to make sure they do not abuse their new power to ruin other player’s fun.

Either way, I feel like I need more information about this scenario, like what specific rule is being broken, is this a player that this admin interacts with frequently, has this player been a frequent rule breaker in the past, what’s the typical way to deal with situations like those, and I would need a general familiarity of responding to Ahelps in the first place. Context from every side is extremely important in this situation.
