I think viruses were a possibly fun mechanic that was not given proper guidance

When I first played SS14 and I encountered virology I was very intrigued. But I only saw implementation through random viruses that affect stations such as coughing or laughing diseases. I think that was a wasted opportunity to create a mechanic that was basically like an airborne botany mutation. Imagine if you could select a common virus sample to test on add different mutagens or affects to that virus. It would make for an incredibly interesting array of diseases to be spread and some specific useful diseases. Like imagine a virologist creates a virus that could affect only carp or spiders or whatever. That could be amazing. And syndies could even get a virus in their packs that affect only crew mates slowly it would be balance and add a new threat to unpack. I made this post cause I think virology is a very under developed part of SS14 that could’ve been fun if given the opportunity. But now I just look back and see the empty viruses lab and get sad. But yeah thats it, I miss viruses.

Bottany would be a great way to start introducing new viruses to the crew without it feeling rough due to RNG.

I feel like unprepared meat would be another way, which could pull the chef in more as well.

so would cargo. there could be sterilization techniques implimented as well. you should look into viruses in space station 13, there’s also a video “on” sentient viruses and they are VERY cool.

Yeah I agree the amount of times I’ve been in Viro the only use was for syndies to kill, its a really unused area, and I also believe that someone with the right equipment could make Bio-weapon’s which target one or many people, to make Kill objectives more than shoot or kidnap.
