Improvised weapons for all classes

It feels like every other round ends in a nuclear bomb destroying the station. It would be nice if there were a way to fight back. It isn’t fun when there is nothing I can do to affect how the round goes.

I’ve asked around for ideas in a nuke round, but the response is usually along the lines of “just die idk man not much you can do”.

For engineers, it might be useful to allow making a Tank Transfer Valve explosive. This would be a type of device where you install a heated plasma tank on one side, an oxygen tank on the other. Then, open the valve, throw it, and it explodes a couple seconds later.

Giving random crew roles easy access to weapons results in alot more validhunting alongwith a plethora of other similar issues. Notice how chemists (who can easily make explosives) often try to find excuses to create weapons of mass destruction despite not really needing to, this problem would be exacerbated massively if every role had something similar.

If you want to fight back properly during nukies, be proactive and head to sec immediately as the call to arm has gone out, grab yourself a gun, vest or stunbaton and get to work. If you cant find any weapon you can always help out in other areas, fighting isnt all that goes into winning nukeops.

If all else fails just make a spear and pray.

Crew can very easily make weapons out of what can be found in maintenance, the vendomat, and the youtool.

Spears: Broken glass shard, LV cable, Rod
Arrow: Broken glass, rod, cloth
Bow: Wood, Cloth
Bat: Wood, Knife
Stun Prod (probably actually OP if you use it right): Rod, Igniter, LV Cable, Small Cap Battery
Pneumatic Cannon: Pipe, Cable Cuffs (LV), Air Tank
Improvised Shotgun Shell: 6 Glass shards, 6 Matches

Probably more that im forgetting, but crew has a bunch of ways to get weapons and armor with a bit of scavenging and time.

favorite of mine is the shiv. break some glass (lightbulb, metamorphic glass, or like literally any other glass thing), cut some cloth with it (rugs, clothes, uh…. i think that’s it), and combine to make a shiv. good brig escape tool, can also butcher with it. illegal contraband, though, because duh.

As a Chemist in LRP, how dare you.

They’re not explosives, they’re fireballs. I’m a wizard, after all.

But yeah, various departments have their own solutions. Engineering can vent gases or mass produce some of the flashier spears. Chemistry can cook up explosives, firebombs, glue, acid. Botany can make nettles. Science has basically everything and a good Security and Cargo will help arm the rest of the staff with lasers and other guns.
Otherwise, you have makeshift and other equipment you can craft.

There is always something you can do to help. If you aren’t robust or cant find a weapon, drag back the fallen crew to medical that died fighting. Nukies are only a 20% chance of happening. So, detonations every other round seems a bit exaggerated. (Unless you are referring to the past couple of days were AFD was taking place. then YES it was a VERY BAD DAY almost every other round. and if you started playing ss14 during afd I am sorry). Not everything you do will affect how the round ends. But everything you do to help the crew CAN make a difference. Just yesterday, I got with a paramedic and made them a ClF3 bomb, some meth and got them a ballistic shield and magboots. You ever see a nukie shit their pants? I sure did. The paramedic got 2 of them in the blast. I chose to then leave the fight to take her to medical revived her and on her own, she made another play with a duffle full of explosive payloads (from the secfab) and one timed grenade. in the last blast she finished off 2 of them again. There is always something you can do. You just need to be smart and help the crew in the best way you can. if that means tanking bullets for the retreating captain, or stun and cuffing a lone nukie that got out of position; You can make a difference you just need to wait for the right opportunity. If you are a CMO you can get methed up and inject nukies with unstable mutagen. I hope this finds you well and you have fun defending the station.

Remember you are ONE person in a server with at least 60 other people. And those 4-5 nukies are fighting 50 other players at the very least. ofc that you are not going to stand a chance against one. But by assisting the rest of the crew you can and DO make a difference.

If everyone had a decent weapon, it would be unplayable for nukies.
