I remember reading some time ago that at some point the functionality was going to be programmed into the launcher for people to make their own server lists.
“And finally, we have made the decision that alternative server hubs will be supported by the official launcher (when somebody gets around to coding it). If people are still wary about our ownership of the hub, we hope this should quell any concerns you have for the future of SS14.
It would be possible for any third-party to set up their own server hub and for players to add it to their launcher with a link or IP.”
Is that the Hub Settings button that recently appeared in the Launcher’s Options Tab?
If so, how does it work? That’s kind of a two part question.
Firstly, How does someone create and host a Hub?
Secondly, Are there any Hubs that I can add?
I’m not even sure how to test this feature because I don’t know where to go to find other Hub Addresses to enter into Hub Settings.
Does this button work currently? Or, is it just a placeholder for when the functionality is finished?
There’s another hub called Multiverse or something, but I don’t know the IP or anything. Currently beta I guess.
Probably may be wrong…
Thank you. I tried it out and it worked. It seems that once you feed the link into Hub Settings you need to close and then open again the Launcher. But, once you do, the new Hub is installed and so are the new Servers that are on the new Hub. I’m glad to see that this feature is here and that it works now.
As of right now, all servers that are on that hub are also on the Wizard’s Den hub, so there is not much of a point in adding it. Servers that are on both hubs will show up as duplicates.
The famously dehubbed Nyanotrasen is notably not there, despite still existing and being advertised on the SSMV website.
SSMV also has a launcher that lets you join servers as a guest, without an account, but only for servers that allow it, like Blep.
They have a Wizard’s Den mirror list? I don’t know what that does. It might mean you can see (but not join) servers on the Wizard’s Den hub if WD authentication is down. Hopefully it’s something more meaningful than that, someone please correct me.
