Is Shuttle bombing 'mass sabotage?'

It could be classified as the 1st example of what ISNT acceptable, but its up to a rules lawyer to decide and it should be made clearer. I think it would also be much more fun for all players if it were to be limited for people with DAGD making it more rare and exciting when it happens. It kills countless people and keeps them dead until the round ends and can even sabotage traitors fucking them over in the last stretch of their mission. I think an explicit example of shuttlebombing should be added to what ISNT allowed in the rule about how much destruction and death you can cause.

If shuttle is here then round already is pretty much over anyways. Though it would be nice if antags acted before it is. :godo:

Honestly, this makes a lot more sense than constantly tweaking barotrauma damage, especially because shuttlebombing will also screw over other antags to the same vein as singuloosing does.

A ban on shuttlebombing would also lead to more antag activity in the round, because people wouldn’t be able to just save all their TC for evac and instakill everyone without EVA.

And as a bonus filter out some of the people that like to shuttlebomb.
Like, one can argue whether it’s a valid strategy, but it sure as heck is a rather unfun one. And if someone doesn’t make playing against them some kind of fun, they’re doing a bad job as an antag.

Only problem is, how do you stop it without just banning everyone who probably didn’t read the rule change? Equally, there are situations where the shuttle is the only chance you do get to do your objectives because somebody is slippery. I have definitely shuttle bombed at least once(though I generally avoid it because I dislike it myself too).

On top of that, there’s very little reason an antag has to care about other antags. As much as I’d like to complain, it’s been explained pretty well that an antag who has to help another, is “risking” themselves being killed, since both know who the other is. And some people are just assholes lol. It seems easy on paper and especially during a mald of people exploding evac but it’s definitely hard to balance.

I don’t think it is ever a good idea to just make rules stop what people can or can’t do. The devs and admins want to make things more gameplay focused rather than needing admin intervention.

Allow shuttlebombing, but make the shuttle tiles near impervious to damage. This still let’s you drop a backpack full of bombs in a shuttle, but having the walls/tilea either NOT break, or something cooler would be to have them break for a second, then an emergency field can hold the shuttle together making new floor tiles and walls. This means people can still be thrown out into space from. Bomb, but Atmos isn’t completely ruined.

This probably won’t stop singularity but that’s fine.
