Jack_the_Jukebox - Interfering with arrest as Quartermaster (selfantag)

Role(s): Command / Security
Length of ban: 2 weeks
Events leading to the ban: The round started on Box Station, I was QM and intended to gamble a bit to see if I could get any of the new items in the lottery boxes. A singuloose happened 27 minutes in which was followed up by a deletion of it and an announcement that we had “inspectors” coming. I gamble for a bit, guy calls out he saw “inspectors in bloodred hardsuits”, and nobody really does shit. The “inspectors” walk around station and people keep yelling that they are nukies even though they don’t know that yet. Cap dies and when revived says “the inspectors are nukies”. I tell crew to go fucking kill them and I run into the last one crit in dorms, I kill him, shuttle gets called. THIS IS WHERE THE EVENT THAT CAUSED THE BAN OCCURED. I walk into brig with my cannon I was going to kill nukies with, ward tell me to give it to him, I complain, wanting to keep it, saying it’s from the lottery and that he let the nukies in. I’m being dragged out of security by HOP as warden stuns me and takes my cannon. HOP tells me “sorry”. A bit later, Moses Brenner is being dragged by a borg who is (i assume) admin smited and blown up. Moses is then disablered by warden. I drag Moses around 1 or 2 tiles away and ask warden “why are you arresting him” and “why are you loosing”. Warden shoots me with lethals. I ask him why he shot me, he says “interfering with an arrest” despite all nukies being dead and that not warranting lethals. I decide to walk away and warden arrests Moses. I am asked in ahelp later why I dragged moses away. I responded “warden was being a prick.” I am then told you should tell captain about that. When round ended I was rolebanned for 2 weeks.
Reason the ban should be removed: The ban should be removed for a few reasons. 1, I feel like this did not need admin intervention, this was an IC issue that could have easily been handled, and actually WAS handled as I let Moses be arrested. 2, the warden had been complained about a few times, and I had already been given an IC reason to dislike them, and I wanted to know why Moses was being arrested, but I was given no reason and was shot. 3, my response in ahelp was poor, and the real reason I had done it was because I wanted to know the arrest reason as Moses was not running, warden was being complained about, and warden was loosing to arrest Moses.

I do not need to be banned to learn from my mistakes, and I could have simply been told in ahelp not to do that again. My last roleban was a few months ago, and instantly rolebanning me for a minor IC interaction does not feel fair to me. If it WAS a valid ban, then I apologize and it will not occur again.

I have decided to sustain your ban on this occasion.

To enable speedy review of all appeals, appeals that meet certain requirements may bypass the standard, often lengthy, review process. Our banning policy requires appeals which are denied using the speedy review process have this notice placed on them. Any of the following criteria typically make an appeal eligible for the speedy review process:

  • the ban length is less than or equal to 14 days,
  • the appeal is older than 7 days, or
  • the result of the appeal is obvious.

In some cases, the banning admin may process the appeal. The banning admin cannot process the appeal if:

  • the facts that led to the ban are disputed,
  • the appeal makes a claim that the admin who placed it was biased, or
  • the ban was not within the ban guidelines.

You may contact a head game admin if you believe this appeal was handled improperly, but should be aware that this will typically only result in a review of the processing of the appeal itself, with the appeal being re-opened if an issue is found. An appeal is considered to have been processed improperly if the criteria to use the speedy review process was not met, or if the facts which the processing admin relied on to process the appeal were incorrect. You must concisely describe why you believe the appeal was handled improperly. If no issue is found with the processing of the appeal, the appeal itself will not be re-reviewed. If, in bad faith, you claim that an appeal was handled improperly, the reviewing head admin may decide to extend the time you must wait before you appeal and/or extend your ban duration. You can find a full list of staff, including head game admins at the staff directory.
