Detail Questions
What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?
as mentioned before, rule enforcement. also keeping players engaged with the game with things like admemes, and just generally making sure things run smoothly and are as they should be.
Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?
i discovered a passion for the game and would like to contribute to it somehow. i feel I can do this better as part of the team rather than a player (even though I play a lot)
How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?
i believe it is in a good place. i play primarily on salamander, so I am used to more mrp style where things are a bit more organized than lrp, but id still say its overall good. people know what they’re doing and don’t stray from it too often.
Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?
admemes. they keep players engaged, keep the focus on the fun of the game and its true potential.
Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?
i have never had a negative experience with an admin or any truly negative ones in game. the game has always been fun for me and the admins have always been helpful and kind.
Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?
nothing truly sticks out but i always have fun with big round events like major nukie victory and things of the like.
Scenario Questions
Scenario 1
It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.
The round has already started, and “something funny” implies something major. I do not think it would be best to do something at that moment because the players thought they were getting into a regular round. I will inform the orbiters of this.
Scenario 2
This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why.
i will first contact the HoS and HoP to understand why they want to arrest the captain. if the reason is against either or both space law and the rules I will explain why and take action if necessary. On LRP the HoP does not need any other reason other than “just in case” to arm against the Captain during his arrest.
As for the clown, I believe he is breaking the self-antagonist rule because the captain’s saber is a weapon and a command item. I will contact them, explain what happened, and take necessary action. If he has done this before, action will likely result in a temporary ban.
Scenario 3
You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available.
I will first take into consideration what the rule that was broken is. Is it major, did it majorly mess with the round, or was it something small? I will then contact each admin who told me what should happen here and get their thoughts on why. If a headmin becomes available when I am done, then I will contact them and relay all information from the other admins. How they rule, will go. If I cannot contact a headmin, then I will take into account what each admin said and go from there.
