In-game Username: Katzuki_Tsuchikido
Discord username: bloo_slime
Characters you play: Kazuki Tsuchikido, Chance Reinheart
On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week: 4
Days you are available to admin on: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and days where I have vacant schedules
How old are you? 20
Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Wizard’s Den servers, or any SS13 experience? Yes, mainly RMC, Frontier Station, Cosmatic Drift, CM13 and TGMC.
Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)? I’ve been an admin on a small youtuber’s discord server a long time ago, it grew and we had new staff to take care of it, I was also getting busy at that time so I left.
Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers? No bans or role bans
What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin? I’d like to be able to handle ahelps regarding shitters and make sure the servers are in good state without too much fun being ruined for other players. Specifically to also help in maintaining Salamander’s MRP quality and keep the shitters and rule breakers away from it.
I’m also interested in hosting a few fun events sometimes for people to have fun with and create high quality roleplay stories.
What are you least interested in doing as an admin? Ban appeals.
Detail Questions
What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?
Game admins are the ones who keep everything in check. They look after servers, the players, and also keep their guards up from outsiders/raiders who’d only enter the server to ruin the fun for other players. They also make sure that the rules are upheld and the rule breakers be punished accordingly.
Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?
I want to be able to help with the server’s staff team and be one of the administrators who can help out in making sure the server’s well-being is kept in a good state. Where players have fun, are safe, and rules remain unbroken.
How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?
Since I’ve only been playing on Salamander after getting the whitelist, I can only speak about Salamander on this question.
The roleplay quality on Salamander is in good quality, keeping the “medium” in MRP true. Anyone is able to create their character’s development and stories, and have interesting interactions with people (this is especially true to my own characters as well). However, some of the head command players still lack a bit of sense of responsibility and sorta uses the roles as a “Tider+ Card”, sometimes completely disregarding their role (I see a few HoP players who just uses it as “tider with more access”)
Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?
It is being able to talk to players about the problems that occurs in the server and resolving it peacefully without any other unnecessary actions
Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?
One negative experience I had was maybe having my notes exaggerated for something harmless like a bad joke. One thing I could do to prevent this is perhaps doing checks and asking the player about it and staying true to what happened and not exaggerating the notes placed on them which make it sound like they did something bad even when they didn’t.
Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?
Most of the game admins I’ve interacted with in Salamander were nice and responsive, they also make sure to check things before handing out any warns and making sure the issue is resolved without having the need to do that so long as the whole interactions were peaceful.
Scenario Questions
Scenario 1
It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.
I’m not one to interact with people when I’m doing something such as moderating, so I’ll keep my ghost visibility off. Assuming they already know I’m moderating, I’ll just keep quiet until they eventually give up talking to me.
Scenario 2
This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why.
I would ask the HoS the reason why they decided to coup the captain, and ask the HoP to hold their actions since they’ve agreed. Once the issue regarding the two has been resolved, I will then observe the clown first, if the clown attempts to murder anyone (like the captain) I will then warn them of the rule break they are about to do before anything gets worse. If they still attempt to slash and dash despite the warning, then they’ll be punished properly.
Scenario 3
You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available.
Since the player has no prior noted issues, depending on how bad what they did, I could either give them a temporary ban or just a small warning with a note. Banning them indefinitely would be an unfair move since they’ve not done anything bad before anyway. And also report the admin who told me to indefinitely ban them and make them appeal to a head admin to let them know how unfair their actions were regarding the said issue.
