Kezu - Huntingdogs900: Unprofessional Conduct in Ahelp

Subject: Kezu

Do you want this complaint to be made public after it is processed: Yes

Policies or Expectations Violated: Admin Policy “Be professional, polite and welcoming”

Detailed Summary:   Hello! Before I go into the details of what the admin said in the ahelp, I will first start by explaining the events that occured. The events that occured are as follows:

  1. It was Round 47093 occuring on 22/02/2024, I was selected to be a nuclear operative when I did not want to and I was confused as I was certain I turned the option off (I checked later to find out that it was turned on, so I admit my fault here).

  2. As I did not want to be a nuclear operative, I was already disappointed and shocked but nontheless due to the game rules of not wasting roles, I decided to try my best anyways. I opted to become a medic for the team.

3.  The commander was ssd (afk) for the first 5-10 minutes ( but at the time, we would not know when he will be back) and another operative wanted to go for warops. I am not an experienced nukie but I roughly know the basics, so I showed him how to start a warops.

  1. Things start to fall apart here. The commander came back but did not really take charge. I spent all my TC on a syndicate cyborg and medical kit and not buying a weapon for myself (thinking that another operative may buy one from me). There was no plan of attack, no roles assigned and later I find out that one operative did not spent any of his TC at all. Naturally as you expect, I got frustrated as I already did not want to be an operative in the first place. I told the others we were certain that I was certain we would lose and fail miserably. I admit that I was going a bit out of character due to my frustration already and the admin Kezu then ahelped me warning me about being OOC.

I do not have the actual ahelp logs and the game happened a few days go. Hence, please forgive me if I am inaccurate with my facts. However, from what I can remember, the admin’s use of the word “dude” after the initial sentence striked me as condescending and unprofessional. Furthermore, he said to me that I was a terrorist and that I should act like one. The thing is: terrorists are human too. If you send a terrorist on a mission with no plan and no cooperation with the teammates, he too will be like “what the hell” and his morale and enthusiasm for the mission would decrease. I admit that I was using OOC terms like “gg” and “next round” due to my frustration, so I will not contest that. However, the initial ahelp Kezu sent me felt condescending and unprofessional in my opinion.  Furthermore, if Kezu was able to see my chat logs, I have to assume he knows that the nuclear operative team was in chaos and frustration was at an all time high.

His ahelp actually angered me at the moment. If I was 5 years younger, I would had swore at  him, used my death implant and waste a role (and likely get banned for that). Instead, I had to calm myself and replied with an “ok acknowledged” statement and informed him that i turned nuclear operatives off (which turned out to be false as mentioned earlier). Kezu then replied in the ahelp stating that it could be a bug and I do not need to reply to him. This was confusing as according to the RULES bolded in red in which everyone is forced to read: “disconnecting from or  ignoring/evading admin helps   will result in an appeal only ban”. That is to say that I had to at least acknowledge his initial warning, but then got told I do not need to reply? As such, I saw that his ahelping was used for escalation instead of descalation and I had to control myself to prevent the situation from blowing up further.

I nonetheless did my best and stayed with the cyborgs who seemed to know what they were doing, welding them and doing my best to keep them alive despite my lack of a decent weapon. However, as expected we completely and utterly lost. I felt I wasted my time forcing myself doing something I did not enjoy with no gain.  The round was so bad that I practically will never play as a nuclear operative ever again, and Kezu had a small part to paly in that decision.

the Ahelp was short and only 4 messages were sent (according to my memory). It would be appreciated during the review that the Ahelp message be found and posted, so I can refine my points to be more accurate or to remove points that are false. Generally, I hope the following actions can be taken:

  1. Kezu’s note on my account was appropriate, there is no need to remove it.

  2. Kezu and other admins should take contextual factors into account before sending ahelps, and to have a more professional conduct (ie, not using condescending words like “dude” from a position of power) , especially in situations where emotions are high.

  3. Clarification on the “not needing to reply” contradicting with the rule " ignoring or evading admin helps will result in an appeal only ban"

  4. An apology from Kezu will be appreciated, but not necessary.

thank you for taking the time to review this complaint. Have a nice day!

Oh my god, I am sorry to get to you almost a year later. The previous headmin team had a very large backlog of complaints, however admittedly this slipped through the cracks completely. I am only now going through the backlog of complaints.

Kezu left the Admin Team on the 11th of November. As such we are no longer able to take any action against him as he is no longer staff.

In the case that Kezu attempts to rejoin the Admin team, or otherwise become a staff member of the Project again this complaint will be taken into consideration before a decision on whether to allow them to rejoin is made.

Removed complaint-pending

I forgot to publish this.

This will be listed as “denied” but I should note that the complaints merits have not been examined due to the above statement. As such denied does not mean the complaint is invalid.
