KinderKicker

In-game Username: KinderKicker
Discord username: Tom
Characters you play: Drill Fjorder(All-roles Dwarf); Azzan Pyreborn(All-roles but more casual Moff);Tickles(Clown Reptillian); Chirrut Imue(Blind human)

On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week: 10 hours

Days you are available to admin on: Sun-Sat.

How old are you? 20

Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Wizard’s Den servers, or any SS13 experience? I have significant time in both frontier and RMC servers.

Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)? I have been an admin for Minecraft servers. This included tracking down cheaters/rule breakers in the game log, member intake interviews(exclusive server, with discord calls to verify that they are not a child), and hosting seasonal events(building, hosting).

Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers? No.

What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin? In-game events seem the most fun to do. Granted these would be more uncommon, but for more common tasks, out-of-game replay and in-game reinforcement seem like something I would be comfortable with.

What are you least interested in doing as an admin? Ban appeals. I have no experience with this, as these were not my job as an admin. I am willing to learn.

Detail Questions

What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?

An admin’s job is to make sure the players are having a good experience. Let them enjoy the game without greifers, cheaters, or rule breakers. Answer questions through Ahelp when they are unsure about something.

Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?

I have seen the recent events regarding the admin team. I am a big believer in stepping in when things don’t look great. Currently, I have the time to admin, and I have a passion for the game. I want to see SS14 and Wizden thrive, as I am a huge supporter.

How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?

I think it could be improved. So many rounds as chef where your only customer is an NPC rat, or someone that takes something and leaves without saying a word. Engineering games where half of the department cryos after energy is set up instead of upgrading the station.

Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?

Ahelp. There has been many times that I have been lost in a situation that I cannot ask the other crew members for help(antag, Ion storm, first cap shift) and a quick Ahelp was always great.

Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?

Playing sec, and the person that was an antags leaves right after we spend 30 minutes searching, scanning, and detective work. This has happened several times, even in and is very frustrating as it prevents sec from being able to RP, or enjoy the fruit of their labor.

While I do not know the admin policy, I would warn them, and temp antag ban if it happens again.

This is one of those things that are very hard to track, but good to do something about if you can.

Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?

All of my admin interactions have been good ones. Getting clarification in the discord or Ahelp, Admemes, a greifer dropping down brain dead.

Scenario Questions

Scenario 1

It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.

I see this an an average round on an average day, no Halloween goofiness, just a normal round. Also I assume I would still be a fresh admin. Also I assume they have not been doing this every round.

I might do something like give cog to a cat or a mothroach. This could lead to some funny interactions that would not hinder anyone’s goals in anyway. I think spawning death squad unprovoked, or a thongler in a maintenance locker is too much with out a headmin or a special event.

Scenario 2

This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why.

Captain is hiding in a shuttle, and they are not allowed to leave the station. If they are a new cap, and first offence, Ahelp warning.

HoS. The cap is actively breaking server rules and actively hiding away from the station. I think you could RP having the cap step down. I assume that this is the coup is happening. I would still keep an eye on the situation, as even jailing the captain seems too harsh.

But there is the problem of a murder hobo clown on the loose, and HOS is ignoring that and targeting captain. This could issue a warning, or temp role ban, as this could be a case of HOS being a shitter.

HoP I feel falls under the same umbrella of HoS. An RP of having a captain that left their post being replaced is interesting.

Quartermaster. I would only warn them if the cap does not share that I told them to go back. QM takes not much time to unlock, and QM is allowed to go to ATS, so there could be confusion. A warn if they do not head back.

Clown. This is self anti-aging, and if they managed to get the saber, and pose enough of a threat to make captain hide, I assume being able to overpower cap to steal the saber, this might be a temp ban over all while the situation is handled.

With half of command breaking or skirting on the rules, I would try to reach a headmin or an experienced admin for help, as this is a very complex issue. I would issue warnings and game kicks where I feel it is appropriate until I can get help

Scenario 3

You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available.

I am receiving mixed messages here. I think if there is no headmin available, I would temp ban, and double check with a headmin during the temp ban to see if this needs to be promoted to an indefinite ban.
