Ban reason: Connect denied: You, or another user of this computer or connection, are banned from playing here.
Length of ban: Indefinite
Ban Issue:
I did what I was banned for, but the ban is unreasonably harsh

Events leading to the ban

It was a new shift and I decided to play as a security cadet. I had already known how to play as security and decided to venture off alone after equipping myself with typical sec gear. I eventually run into a person with a syndicate bag who refuses to hand it over. This leads to me arresting them. I had understood that the person wasn't syndicate and was merely holding the bag, so I decided to let them go with a joking 15 seconds in jail. When the person refused to leave after I unrestrained them and said their time was up, I arrested them again. This process continued a few times til I was told to stop in which I did.
Following this interaction, nothing much happened for a while. I arrested a wanted botanist and let him go with a warning because he was accused of vandalism. Eventually, I see the person from before who had the syndicate bag and I jokingly say "Why aren't you in your cell" and my superior officer asks if I know where the person's insulated gloves were. I say that I ate them as I point at a pair of insulated gloves near us. I had not done anything to his gloves but nonetheless I was wanted by security after I left through the ducts. As I believe my wanting was unlawful, I threatened to explode a welding tank which I did.
After a fight, I am arrested and put in the perma brig. I talk with a clown who is also perma'd and we plot to escape. The clown and I kill a lawyer who entered the room shooting at us (I cannot remember the reason for him having a gun or entering perma. I also had thought he was a security officer until he was dead and I checked his ID). At this point, I am stuck in perma as the captain and HOS determine my fate. I am eventually executed in the fighting ring.

Reason the ban should be removed

I would like to firstly state that I understand some aspects of the ban such as the welderbomb and me resisting my initial arrest. As a security officer, I shouldn’t have done that at all. I also want to clarify that I never lied to the admin as stated in my ban nor was I told by the admin that I had lied to them about anything. When I was held in perma I had already been revoked of my security position and I saw it fit to roleplay a prison escape which I had done. This was when I was informed that attempting to break out was apparently a self-antag action which I did not know. Understand all of this now, I would not commit any of this in the future nor would I have done it knowing that it was against the rules. My ban is justified but indefinitely is too harsh in my eyes as the situation could be viewed as more roleplaying that attempting to self-antag. The results of my actions did not affect the ship in any major way as anybody hurt had been healed, no permanent or large-scale damage had been done, and my intentions to server rules were not bad. I really just want another chance and a reduced ban time if possible.

I’m going to opt to remove the gameban entirely, but it’s going to be replaced with a ten day security roleban. Things getting to the point where you are not just fired from sec, but arrested and perma’d is seriously bad.

I’d like for you to review the self-antag rules when you get back in, considering your recent bans. If you’re causing destruction and/or death, or wasting security’s time and energy to a significant degree as a non-antag, you’re over the line.

While I’m choosing not to enforce this with a longer or appeal-only ban, I would also advise that you take some more time to get a feel for the game and its rules before you play security again.
